Fiona Fox Canon Claim for Sonic RP

Why do you want this character?: she’s LITERALLY me. The fact that Archie managed to make a character that was me mobianized will always stun me. Not only do we share names, foxes has always been my spirit animal. As much as I like ravens, foxes were my thing as a kid. I was born with red hair (I dyed my hair black) and we both have blue eyes. We have the same outfit aesthetics and the same taste in men. I love Scourge as much as I love Fiona.

When I first found Fiona, I felt like I can finally say my name without feeling super weirded out by it. She has made me finally normalize my name personally. She’s genuinely a great character and people don’t see what she truly is.

She has a lot of tough and deep layers, not a lot of people actually know how she thinks. And her relationship with Scourge and Sonic. It’s very complicated. Oh, and she used to be apart of Mighty’s gang, she counts as a classic gang.

Personality: Fiona is one of those characters whose entire worldview was shaped by abandonment. Being left behind in Robotnik’s prison camp for two years left a wound that never ever healed. Whether Sonic and Mighty intended to leave her or not never mattered to Fiona because, from her perspective, they forgot her. And that was never brought up- they never sought out for her… they just… gave up on ever. They saved everyone else and left her to rot. As a child who had already been abandoned by her parents at a very young age, that experience only reinforced what she had secretly feared all along: people leave.

Because of that, Fiona developed a deeply cynical and guarded outlook on life. She genuinely believes that you cannot count on anybody but yourself, and nearly every decision she makes stems from that belief. She holds grudges for a very long time, struggles to forgive, and often expects betrayal before it even happens.

Despite her emotional scars, Fiona is very resilient. Surviving alone in a prison camp for two years and literally digging her way to freedom speaks a lot about her determination and resourcefulness. How much she is willing to go for her freedom, even if it came to making the tips of her fingers bleed.

She is intelligent, adaptable, and capable of handling herself in dangerous situations without relying on anyone else’s help. Fiona prides herself on her independence and hates feeling weak, vulnerable, or dependent on others. She would rather carry every burden herself than risk placing her trust in the wrong person.

One of Fiona’s most defining traits is her ability to manipulate people. She is charming, witty, observant, and knows exactly what others want to hear. She often uses her charisma as both a weapon and a shield, keeping people at a distance while maintaining control of a situation. Fiona is strategic and pragmatic, usually prioritizing survival and personal gain over morality or heroism.

Unlike Sonic, Mighty, and many of the Freedom Fighters, as a kid, she never naturally understood their heroic mindset. Even when she had good intentions, she struggled to understand why they were so willing to forgive enemies, show mercy, or put others before themselves. To Fiona, those qualities often seemed naive rather than admirable. And those feelings only worsened when she rejoined them when she pretended to be one of them..

Her confidence can come across as cocky, sarcastic, and even arrogant. She enjoys getting under people’s skin and often masks her insecurities with smug remarks or playful teasing. Fiona is a natural leader when she wants to be, capable of organizing complicated plans and taking charge in high pressure situations. She does believe she’s a better leader than Scourge- because unlike scourge, she doesn’t get easily angered by the little things; she’s not as reckless as him.

Beneath that confidence, however, lies someone who constantly struggles with feelings of insecurity, rejection, and self worth. Much of her bravado is a defense mechanism designed to prevent others from seeing how deeply she has been hurt.

I personally believe Fiona has bpd (borderline personality disorder) (not to be confused with bipolar) Obviously this is only a headcanon, but many of her behaviors line up with traits commonly associated with bpd. Her fear of abandonment is arguably the single most important aspect of her character and influences almost everything she does. She has difficulty trusting others, experiences intense attachment to certain people, struggles with commitment despite craving stability, holds onto emotional wounds for years, and can swing between wanting closeness and pushing people away. Which is another reason why I resonate with her so much- is it a possibility I’m adding parts of myself to her? Probably.

As well as her tendency to have “breaks” in relationships, her difficulty maintaining healthy relationships, and her habit of expecting betrayal before it happens all contribute to why I see her this way. Her abandonment by her parents and later by Sonic and Mighty created a deep and permanent wound within her sad, broken, and bleeding heart. (I’m emo asf lol)

This is especially apparent in her relationship with Scourge. Fiona constantly struggles between wanting to trust him and wanting to protect herself from being hurt again. She has commitment issues, trust issues, and a habit of holding grudges, which often causes conflict between them. There are times when she breaks things off or emotionally distances herself, though it rarely lasts long. On both sides. Whenever she catches herself becoming too attached, especially during vulnerable moments or after seeing a side of Scourge that feels genuine, she instinctively reminds herself not to get comfortable. Not with him, especially not him. Yet despite all of that, there are moments where Scourge is genuinely good for her because, in many ways, he understands her. Both of them are deeply flawed people carrying around insecurities they rarely show anyone else. And if we’re being real, he does- and feels- the exact same things.

The time when he finally allowed himself to be vulnerable around her, When he breaks down and vents all his frustrations, and insecurities, Fiona genuinely felt something. For perhaps the first time in a very long while, she felt genuine love and affection without suspicion immediately overpowering it. It is one of the rare moments where her walls come down. Fiona spends so much of her life expecting people to leave that when Scourge finally shows her that vulnerable side of himself, she wants to believe he will stay. She wants to believe that this time will be different. Whether that belief is justified or not, it is one of the few times Fiona allows herself to hope. Which is why Fiona and Scourge would have such a strong relationship, they’re THE Sega Bonnie and Clyde. And nobody can take that title away from them!

Another thing that I find interesting is how much easier it is for her to open up to women, especially strong and confident women. You see this in the no zone prison arc. Because so many of the major betrayals and disappointments in her life came from male figures, she often feels safer around women and is more willing to let her guard down around them. She is also pretty feministic and values strength, independence, and self determination in both herself and other girls. Fiona respects women- and non-cis-man— who refuse to let the world define them because she has spent her entire life trying to survive on her own terms. (That is also why she would respect the lgbt community- especially any gender who struggled with their identity and gender regarding society.)

At her core, Fiona is not evil. She- and even Scourge- knows that. She is a hurt person who learned all the wrong lessons from the worst experiences of her life. Which is why Scourge sometimes feels bad having her around, even though he really loves it when she unleashes her chaotic tendencies. He knows she loves freedom, that’s what’s charming about her. Regardless, she started as a good girl with good intentions, but abandonment, betrayal, and loneliness slowly transformed those intentions into bitterness and self preservation. Honestly, Scourge would describe her as a “good girl gone bad.” But according to Fiona, she’d say to Scourge she’s always felt outcasted within the heroes- as I said before.
