Age of Cenozoic: Game Setting Moves to Florida!
@┋⧼Announcement / @┋⧼Development
PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS CAREFULLY
A change in direction. :dc_arrowUP:
A few days ago, the team was discussing whether we should move the game away from California or the tar pits.
This was because Ecos, LA Brea, is already specializing in making a game regarding the tar pits. 🏔️
This is also so we don't appear to be "copying" the game or something. But also to bring in more originality and opportunity.
We've decided to move the game from California to FLORIDA. :zExclaim2:
But why?
Florida and La Brea were very different Ice Age environments. La Brea was a cooler, wooded region where animals often got stuck in natural tar and was primarily a coastal Mediterranean ecosystem. Florida, by contrast, was warm and subtropical, made up of wetlands, rivers, springs, and open savannas. This allowed a wider range of animals to thrive, especially SEMI-AQUATIC SPECIES LIKE ALLIGATORS, manatees, and tapirs. Florida's changing sea levels constantly reshape the land. :Afox_yay:
This created a much more diverse habitat than a single trap-based ecosystem like La Brea!
So, in a nutshell, it gives us a variety of more animals and many more and new systems or environments than La Brea.
La Brea: A coastal Mediterranean ecosystem
Florida: Everglades and coastal plains. More diversity. 🌴
What in terms of animals? :TFCPaws:
Don't panic! Many animals from the original Californian roster will still be here or will be substituted by other subspecies.
(Smilodon populator is still there too, so dw about us having to change the pfps and stuff.)
There are animals like bears, alligators, crocodiles, and Borophagus (our new hyena.) And Palaeolama, a camelid, among dozens and dozens more.
