Marvel Rivals Teamwork Guide

Summary

House of Marvels explains why Marvel Rivals matches fall apart and how to bring order with positioning and role discipline. The announcement covers the Trinity of Roles—Vanguard (Tank), Duelist (DPS), and Strategist (Support)—and guidance on Main vs Flex Strategists to improve teamwork and win more fights.

Marvel Rivals: Why Your Team Keeps Running Into a Wall (And How to Bring Some Order Back to the Runway)

We've all had that Marvel Rivals match.

You load into a game, pick your hero, and the moment the first teamfight starts, everything turns into chaos.

Your Tank decides to go sightseeing on the other side of the map. Your Duelists are busy putting on a solo performance, and you, in your Strategist role, keep getting deleted by Spider-Man while the rest of your team looks the other way.

In Marvel Rivals, everything comes down to positioning.

This game rewards teams that play together.

So take your seats, because the category is: Teamwork Realness.

Understanding the Trinity of Roles

For a team to function, it has to act as a single unit. If everyone decides to do their own thing, the enemy team will have no trouble taking you apart.

  • The Vanguard (Tank) is the shield and anchor of the team. The mother of the house. Their primary job is to create space. A good Tank pushes forward, establishes presence, and forces the enemy team to give ground. A passive Tank creates no pressure. A Tank who charges in alone usually gets eliminated before the rest of the team can even follow.
  • The Duelist (DPS) is the team's main source of offensive pressure. Their job is to deal damage and secure eliminations. Their most common mistake? Forgetting that Marvel Rivals is a team game. A kill means nothing if your team gets wiped out in the process.
  • The Strategist (Support) is the heart of the team. They heal, protect, and keep everyone alive. Without Strategists, there is no survivability, no tempo control, and no victory. In short: respect your Supports.

Strategists: Main vs Flex

In Marvel Rivals, you don't just pick two Strategists at random. They need to function as a real duo.

At the back, away from the front line, you'll usually find the Main Strategist.

Positioned safely in the rear, they watch the flanks and protect their teammates. Rocket Raccoon and Loki excel in this role.

Closer to the action is the Flex Strategist.

They're the field medic, the Strategist who often sticks with the Tank and keeps the frontline alive under pressure. Gambit and Mantis are classic examples.

This is where the duo really shines: if a Spider-Man, Black Panther, or Venom dives onto your Flex Strategist, the Main Strategist needs to react. Both Strategists should constantly be looking out for each other.

Because when your Supports start dropping one after another, the category quickly becomes: Respawn Realness.

Peel (Or How to Save Your Sisters)

If there's one term you should remember, it's this: Peel.

In a Hero Shooter, peeling means temporarily abandoning your current objective to protect a teammate who is under attack.

One of the most common beginner mistakes is to keep shooting straight ahead.

A few seconds later, there's nobody left to heal you.

A good Tank or Duelist reacts immediately and turns back to help. If someone is attacking your backline, that's no longer just the Support's problem. It's the entire team's problem.

No Strategist. No healing.

No protection, no Strategist.

No Strategist, no victory.

In Summary

Front line: the Tank creates space.

Middle line: the Duelists and the Flex Strategist push forward with the team.

Back line: the Main Strategist watches the flanks, protects allies, and maintains cohesion.

When these three lines stay connected, the team becomes much harder to break.

And suddenly, what looked like a disorganized brawl becomes a perfectly synchronized choreography.

The category then becomes: Victory Realness.
