After Dark ✦ Channel and Role Guide

👋 NEW HERE? SEEING TOO MANY CHANNELS OR NOT ENOUGH?
We’ve got quite a few channels at After Dark, and some are role-gated or optional, so you might not see everything straight away. You can customise your server experience pretty easily.
🛠️ FIRST THING TO DO
- Head to Channels and Roles
- Click Browse Channels
- Follow the categories and channels you’re interested in
- Pin the channels you want easy access to. They’ll appear at the top of your channel list
- Mute channels you don’t want notifications from
- Head to id:customize and check your #🎭・self-assign-roles so you can unlock the areas and pings you actually want
🎭 SOME CHANNELS REQUIRE A ROLE
Not every part of After Dark is intended for everyone, so you may need to grab a role before certain channels become visible.
Depending on what you’re interested in, you can choose roles for things like:
☕ Cozy
For our cozy chats, relaxing content and comfy corner of the server.
🕵️ Criminal Minds
For discussions around Criminal Minds and related content.
💬 Vent
For the Talk It Out / venting space when you need somewhere to let things out.
👁️ Oddities
For the weird, unusual, mysterious and interesting stuff.
🎮 Gaming
For game-specific channels, events and gaming pings.
🎨 Art
For sharing artwork, creative projects and art-related discussions.
🃏 TCG / Collectors
For Pokémon TCG, collecting and other card-related conversations.
🔔 WANT THE PINGS?
Make sure you grab the relevant notification roles in id:customize.
This means you can get notified about the things you actually care about without having @/everyone constantly going off.
🔒 WHY CAN’T I SEE A CHANNEL?
If you can’t see something, don’t panic! 😂
It’s probably one of three things:
🔹 You haven’t followed the channel/category yet
Check Browse Channels.
🔹 It requires a role
Head to id:customize and check the available #🎭・self-assign-roles
🔹 It’s intentionally private/role-gated
Some areas are only available to specific groups or roles.
Basically, you don’t need to follow everything. Build the server around what you actually want to see. 🖤
