There have been events through history but I don't think it relates to all 'white' people, that term has changed with groups being included and excluded
Do you know when modern systemic racism started and where
I am speaking of the race and not individually we as a race have faced racism of every nature. Me as an individual person has not faced systemic racism.
It doesnt need to be modern to still be racism. I agree we are not currently under that racism however it still existed and has happened.
Racism how since we're probably thinking of different examples of it
Systemic racism in Zimbabwe.
Wait so you don't think it's happening now?
They were beaten and killed for their race.
No, I think individual racism is still happening and is surprisingly common in todays day and age however I dont think (or atleast know) that white people are in current systemic racism.
So the government back in the 2000s
It was during the late 1900's
And what was going on for decades before that
Ok so ur referring to a specific type of it
Does this mean that white people should face racism? Secondly it wasnt because of slavery.
Im referring to systemic racism which white people have faced.
I didn't ask that question to justify what happened afterwards, I asked it for actual context of why it happened since not everyone will decide to just commit violence against a race/ culture/ community etc
I see, well people moved there, had a political opinion and settled. After almost 100 years they went on to beat and kill white people due to race. That was a moment white people were beaten and killed
What was going during those 100 years? Did the people they snap and attack the whites, like was there any reason or was it just genuine hate for the settlers
Well there were many things and dont get me wrong they were violent and unjust however you dont beat and kill people for something they didnt have a say in.
This seems like a sort of example where we can't just call it racism since it was probably bubbling up for decades, and besides a few years before the country was under British rule and everyone knows the empire often leaves a mess
Did they beat and kill them and hate them for their race? Yes. Whats that? Racism.
Your saying it as if it's only cos of their race, and again this isn't a justification tho remember people from many regions often hated settlers coming onto their lands and there were many other things which also happened
'mindless violence' against a group of people never really comes out of nowhere, this can be said for pretty much all places around the globe
It was oppression for their race. I feel like despite them being innocent and supporting a political belief doesnt mean they should die.
Ofc no one should die but I think using the term racism also ignores all the underlying issues which lead to this happening, there's a lot more to it other than just race
Yes there can be underlying issues however this doesnt exclude them from racism.
Same for slavery.
We all agree its racist
However nobody would say that.
They would say its because they were dirty and not actually people
and a lot more fall into that
having underlying issues doesnt exclude them.
???
Slavery isn't racist tho.
woah
Well, American slavery is.
Tbh racism seems to be a term stretched thin nowadays, I mean this through a bigger lens since having certain opinions is considered racism nowadays
Yes but they were targeted for their race.
If they were a white man they would assume they were settlers and go on to ebat and kill them.
Again, it was more than just 'for their race' since all the settlers were white I'm pretty sure
Then you can apply the same to slavery
Tf I got timed out for trying to say Zimbabwe is mostly black💀
LOL
Yes the country is but that doesnt mean they can beat and kill them
UK is white majority in some areas, can we go around beating and killing?
That's two completely different countries with different reasons for people first moving to each, mainly settlers
Arguing?
Black people are coming here illegally, does that gain me the right?
Besides Britain was the one who colonised them in the first place, non Brits didn't try and take over
Real
