What's interesting, is that if an equivalent statement was made upon ethnic terms, it would probably not have stayed up.
I guess that doesn't matter, some people are without a doubt like that, may they be of either gender. Selfless help is uncommon today and largely reserved for close ones.
But if you refer to 'man' as in humanity, the statement is largely correct.
