I wouldn’t go as far as saying pop music hasn’t been good for over a decade. The reason music feels repetitive is bc people support the same people to extreme levels nowadays. Being a fan has taken a new direction. People will stream garbage music just because it was made by a specific person, more streams = you’ll be hearing garbage often outside.
