quickranger-40 OP

I don’t understand how people let their cats roam free to get ran over by a car, catnapped, or killed by a coyote.

quickranger-40 OP

Literally just mentally stimulate and play with your cat it’s not hard.

swiftorchid-87

cats are wild creatures too..

swiftorchid-87

they know how to survive by themselves

quickranger-40 OP

If I could send you a pic of my Scottish fold baby you’d know how she’d die in two seconds out there

quickranger-40 OP

My first ever cat was killed by a coyote and I said never again

swiftorchid-87

yeah cats with 2 braincells wont survive long

gentleunicorn-93

If Dogs are the gangsters of the street then Cats are the Godfather. How can you stop a Godfather from doing its business in the street

quickranger-40 OP

I’ve seen ppl who keep Persian cats, Scottish folds, etc as outdoor cats it just makes zero sense

gentleunicorn-93

They are curious, that's their only mistake

quickranger-40 OP

Also if you have a barn cat sure. But cats aren’t used to cars or catnappers “in the wild”

swiftorchid-87

neither were the street dogs

swiftorchid-87

once

quickranger-40 OP

If you left your dog as an outdoor dog to fend for itself you’d get it taken away

swiftorchid-87

skill issue

quickranger-40 OP

Protect the pets🫶🏻

swiftorchid-87

yea domesticated pets never stay with their mom for too long

swiftorchid-87

thats why they never learn skills to survive

swiftorchid-87

this sounds like a problem caused by humans

warmpanda-50

That's true... Except for my best friend's cat. He's invincible istg

warmpanda-50

He kicked out of the neighbourhood all the bad stray cats

warmpanda-50

He's literally the boss of the neighbourhood

warmpanda-50

Even dogs ignore him😭

swiftorchid-87

he's da goat

snowyorange-96

I mean every animal deserves fresh air and its good for them but like idk depends on country maybe

snowyorange-96

In my country nobody catnaps cat

snowyorange-96

They just ask who cat it is

quickranger-40 OP

I open windows you’re supposed to air out your place anyways

snowyorange-96

Ye but like i belive everyone loves some freedom

snowyorange-96

And not be trapped

warmpanda-50

💯

quickranger-40 OP

Indoor cats won’t feel trapped if you actually take the time to play with them and mentally stimulate their environment instead of just letting them risk their lives outside because you’re too lazy to do the former

quickranger-40 OP

Again, my exception is if you live in literally the middle of nowhere

warmpanda-50

My cats are not trapped in my house. I AM THE ONE TRAPPED WITH THEM.

warmpanda-50

:ohno:

snowyorange-96

Maybe

snowyjungle-82

Cat were from the wild before they were domesticated you know....
Even if you try they will still sneak out, it's their nature
It is better you just leave them ,they will come back after their adventure ,
Btw they have nine lives
If your cat is smart ,
there would be low probability of them dieing or getting lost
Turning certain breeds into indoor cat would only make them dumb ,fat and lazy

quickranger-40 OP

So you agree that they’re domesticated. Also often times I see these outdoor cats in developed areas, I don’t live in a forest.

Just because a dog derives from wolves doesn’t mean it therefore doesn’t need protection and care.

We derived from apes. So what?

quickranger-40 OP

They didn’t evolve from developed suburbs/cities either. Protect the kitties!

snowyjungle-82

Don't you get my point
Depends on the breed....
They were domesticated that doesn't mean they are dumb ,being in the wild would always be in them not like them going outside means they should go into the forest to hunt or something...
If you care for them you let them be themselves
If your cat is trained properly they would always come back
I see no protection in Locking them inside 24hrs

snowyjungle-82

Btw If you evolve from ape
That doesn't mean every one are from ape

snowyjungle-82

Ok why not buy a cage so they would be protected and won't think of leaving...

quickranger-40 OP

Unfortunately there’s no innate evolved smarts for any breed when it comes to a car running them over, a human stealing them, or a coyote killing it.

These are the biggest external factors that are out of the owners control.

quickranger-40 OP

A closed door will suffice. If yall think having a cat indoors is “trapping it”, then your house is just stuffy and you need to open a window.

snowyjungle-82

Yh but that doesn't mean they shouldn't enjoy their wild part

quickranger-40 OP

My cat is perfectly happy, healthy, and I can guarantee her safety.

I’ve tried to take her on a walk with a cat leash because of ppl like yall and she HATED IT lmao

If you start with an indoor cat, they’ll stay an indoor cat. There’s nothing they’re inherently missing

snowyjungle-82

Even human are naturally indoors animals don't like being indoors all there life
Talk more of cats....

quickranger-40 OP

Humans aren’t the same as cats.

If your indoor cat is unhappy it means you’re too lazy to play and enrich their environment

snowyjungle-82

Why take her out door at all
"Protector of the cat galaxy"

quickranger-40 OP

I already said why lmfao. Because of ppl like yall who insist indoor cats are unethical

snowyjungle-82

I love my pets
That doesn't mean I make them miserable

quickranger-40 OP

Yes so genius wow. Don’t make your pets miserable!

snowyjungle-82

They can be indoor that doesn't mean you won't let them explore and enjoy that part of them
They will always come back if they love you

quickranger-40 OP

I think we’re missing each other here. It’s not about the cats love.

It’s about external forces that are out of your control. It’s unfair to the cat to put them in any position to get hurt.

snowyjungle-82

Locking them is somehow selfish
My environment people don't just steal random pets
Btw cats don't just go about crossing the road like they are dumb
Unless that cat is dumb

quickranger-40 OP

🤦‍♀️

snowyjungle-82

If you want your cat to be dumb, lazy and fat then keep them indoors all their life and lock them up
Your choice...
That doesn't mean others should follow such...

quickranger-40 OP

I just know you don’t take the time to play with your cat smh

quickranger-40 OP

That’s the only reason why you’re saying such a dumb ass sentence

snowyjungle-82

Yes ,
I remember putting you on my wall as a CCTV camera

quickranger-40 OP

Btw avg lifespan of free roam outdoor cats is 2-5 years.

Compared to avg lifespan of an indoor cat is 12-20 years.

I love my cat enough to maximize her life time.

snowyjungle-82

True....
I get you are an extreme cat lover cool...
The reason I love cat is because of that their adventurous nature ,I won't get them then change them into the opposite ,
Btw you shouldn't bother about my cat she's smart like her owner :kyliesip:

rapidnectar-92

i kinda agree and disagree. cats can survive, but the world isn’t the same anymore. cars, people, predators… it’s just not worth the risk. supervised outside time or a catio makes sense, just not letting them run around.
