Dating a couple times is okay but it can start to feel like a chore sort of so I get the annoying part. I only dated my fiancée three times before getting engaged
You can still leave the person being engaged is not the same as marriage
Being engaged is the step before getting married but you can drag that out as long as you want to

My sister was engaged 2 years before getting married
