Hyper Offense Whimsicott Mega Star Team Help

Summary

In Pokémon Champions | VGC Battles & Tournaments this announcement requests team ratings and advice for a hyper-offense Whimsicott + Mega Staraptor core. It outlines roles for Garchomp, Zoroark-Hisui, Gholdengo and Incineroar, item and move swap suggestions, and matchup notes like handling Dragonite, Froslass and fairy threats. The post asks for optimization of spreads and items to climb in Ultra Ball rank.

I've been using this and so far climbed up to ultra ball (not playing a ton so it's doing well).
The main game plan is simple: lead whims and star and threaten most things.
- Garchomp pairs nice because once whimsicott is dead it can clean up most mons with eq...though Dragonite hasn't been a fun matchup. Ntm staraptor is ofc flying so freer eq.
- Ghold deals with most fairy types as this team does have to respect them. Also free fake out switch in
- speaking of fake out, incineroar is self explanatory. Fake out, Intimidate, damage, bulky it's a good typing. Stupid pokemon.
- now I feel like this I need to explain. Zoroark has been putting in incredible work. Under tailwind it easily deals with mega froslass. I'm considering shadow ball over bitter malice but I enjoy controlling the attack of problematic physical attackers. Also finding its best to disguise them as either Ghold if you are trying to trick a ghost type or garchomp if you want to get them to fake out.
This is my take and I am newer to vgc or rather haven't played in ages. There are probably more optimal mons and spreads and that's mostly what I wanna check for. If you all wouldn't mind rating and giving some pointers id appreciate it.

  1. Garchomp: Poison Jab -> Rock Slide
Helps much more into Dragonite, Flying-types, Ice/Flying threats, and gives spread pressure under Tailwind.
  2. Zoroark-Hisui: Bitter Malice -> Shadow Ball
Use the stronger, cleaner Ghost STAB if you mainly need KOs into Froslass/Ghost/Psychic targets.
  3. Gholdengo: Leftovers -> Sitrus Berry or a stronger damage item if available
Leftovers is slow value; this team plays fast Tailwind pressure, so Gholdengo wants either immediate bulk recovery or more damage.

I like all of this.

quickjester-17 OP

I'll probably try it out on showdown then implement in game if it works out

@merrykitten-85 1. Garchomp: Poison Jab -> Rock Slide Helps much more into Dragonite, Flying-types, Ice/Flying thre…
quickjester-17 OP

Rock slide for sure helped a lot for the staraptor mirror less for Dragonite. Chip is good but dclaw still better for Dragonite. Zoroark is a better dragonite counter with icy wind
Shadow ball was good but there are times I miss dropping problematic things like inci or other physical mons. The only question I got is should I swap to modest over timid to guarantee the oko? Tailwind should make me faster without question

quickjester-17 OP

Tweaked the ev and suddenly it's doing good

Small tweaks make huge difference sometimes

That is very true
