Competitive Sun Team Guide: VGC Meta Breakdown

Version 1: https://pokepast.es/f602f6fdf8b36fe8

Alright guys, new season new team.
Here I come with, as the title suggests, a meta slave team featuring sun (yard ofc) and venu, which seems to not be the go to in the current meta, with whim having wayyyy too much usage over it or it holding the mega stone, which obviously I'm not so it's a completely different Mon.

As for EVs, I'm about to go in a basic breakdown for all the benchmarks hit just if any nerd like me cares (probably the best part of the team)

Venu, always takes a dwb from mega aero after sitrus pop, takes two +1 moonblasts from floette and outspeeds every relevant Mon under sun, rest spatk

Yard, takes Ada slide from chomp, creeps rotom creep, rest spatk (probably changing to creep fucking vivillon creep because f that mf)

Chomp, insanely bulky set, takes heat wave into claw from most yard chomp leads being able to punish em insanely hard

Sylveon, generic sylveon EV popularized by the ariados guy, takes heat wave into eq from most chomp yard leads iirc

Adamant sash basc, pretty straightforward, the go to for basc in high ladder sadly

Gambit takes Sneas cc with chople pop and two hyper voices from gard iirc

Sitrus on Venu for all the calcs I said, here to stick around and be the only "speed control" of the team with sleep powder WHICH IS GOING TO HIT OK

Yard, nuke button overheat comprehends for defendive EVs, no one expects air slash to say goodbye to sneasler, don't need solar beam since leaf storm venu CLEARS

Bulky scarf chomp here to stick and not be the destroy them button, just annoying damage dealer to chip everyone down/clean endgames/kill glimmoras. You do not need to OHKO stuff if you outspeed them and survive the double up mindset

Sash Basc boringggggggggg. Will not bother explaining since you probably already know

Mega Venusaur & Aerodactyl VGC Team Guide | Pokémon Champion

Hey ! I've started VGC with champions and out of all the teams I built I really like this one ! I love trick room but HTR is really hard to run imo, so I opted to have a tailwind mode with Aero. I'll explain the decisions for every mon :

  • I made Fari extremely bulky on the physical side to be able to tank 2 close combats for sneasler. The worst matchups of the team are Kommo-o and hydreigon from the testing I made. So I added dazzling gleam and 8 points in Spa to be sure to one shot fully offensive sets for the two dragons.

  • What I really wanted to do was to have fari + bascu, wich is the main lead of team. Being able to helping wave crash to OKHO a majority of the meta, all the while being protected from kingambit sucker punch is really strong imo. Is also really good to pivot with flip turn and clean up after trick room ended. I opted for adamant to be sure to one shot fully offesive zard y under sun, and also have the advantage against other scar bascu when in trick room, but maybe jolly is better

  • Torkoal is really standard. I don't really need coverage since I have earth power on venu and rock slide on aero, so i went with the full fire set to cover up for most gamestates.

  • Venu is kind of the star of the team, being able to do a torkoal/venu lead and sleep stuff with powder before mega evolving, or outspeeding speedier threats under TR and powering them as well ! It's just really versatile and works without it's mega, so i can bring it even when I go with Mega aero. Since it's speed stat is average it works well in both modes.

  • Kingambit is just super strong under trickroom. Venu is already my fairy counter so I dropped iron head for low kick cause I really needed a fighting moove (half of my mons don't have protect so i need it on him). Went with a brave nature to beat other gambits under TR.

  • Aero has a very straightforward set and is here to fix sun and rain matchupps with rock slide and tailwind. Bascu/Venu work great under wind.

Pokémon Auction Tournament: Draft Your Ultimate Team

Pokémon Auction Tournament Format

Overview

This tournament will use an auction draft format. Each player will build a team of 8 Pokémon by bidding on Pokémon during the auction.

Every participant starts with 2,000 auction points to spend. Once a Pokémon is won in the auction, it cannot be drafted by anyone else.

Building a strong team while managing your budget will be key to success.

Team Building Rules

  • Each player starts with 2,000 points.
  • Each player must draft 8 Pokémon.
  • Each player may draft a maximum of 1 Uber Pokémon.
  • No duplicate Pokémon are allowed.
  • Teams are locked after the auction is completed.

Uber Pokémon

The following Pokémon are considered Ubers:

  • Miraidon
  • Koraidon
  • Zacian-Crowned
  • Necrozma-Dusk-Mane
  • Kyogre
  • Groudon
  • Eternatus
  • Ho-Oh

Each player may only have one Pokémon from this list on their roster.

Auction Format

  1. Players will take turns nominating Pokémon.
  2. The nominated Pokémon will begin at its listed starting bid.
  3. Players may bid against each other using their auction points.
  4. When bidding ends, the highest bidder wins the Pokémon and pays the final bid amount.
  5. The process continues until every player has drafted 8 Pokémon.

Bidding Rules

  • Minimum bid increase: 25 points.
  • Players cannot bid more points than they currently have.
  • Players must always keep enough points to fill the remaining spots on their roster.

Match Format

Each matchup will be a Best-of-3 series:

Battle 1

  • Singles Battle

Battle 2

  • Doubles Battle

Battle 3 (If Necessary)

  • If the series is tied 1-1, a coin flip will determine whether the deciding battle is:
  • Singles, or
  • Doubles

The winner of the deciding battle wins the series.

Pokémon Usage

The same roster of 8 Pokémon will be used throughout the tournament.

Players may choose which Pokémon from their roster to bring to each battle, following the rules of the battle format being played.

How to Counter Meta Teams: Pokémon VGC Strategy Guide

Alright yall Indy championship is over so we're gonna see the same two teams on ladder for the next week: Wolfe's sand team with Steelix and the winning team, which uses Mega Floette and Mega Delphox. What are y'all's ideas for hard countering these teams?

LF: Aprimons
Sprigatto (Dusk)
Fuecoco (Love)
Quaxly (Lure)

FT: Charmander (Moon)
Popplio (Love)
Zorua (Moon)

If give all 3 I can provide a normal meltan & shiny kakuna.

(I don’t need HA, but I would be nice to have. I just wanna use the cuties for my playthrough, I’ve always wanted to start my play through with the 3 main starters)

Dragonite & Venusaur VGC Team Guide | Pokémon Champions

Yet again, I have made another dragonite team after using the dragonite delphox team with a different set, since I was happy with the way dragonite felt.

https://pokepast.es/94effccdff8115c8

This team is a lot more bulky and both Dragonite and Venasaur play rly similarily so its easy to adapt to each mega. Funnily enough mega venasaur is actually good for sun teams bcause it is rly good into glimmora whims and thanks to thick fat can survive a sun boosted weather ball.

I have sorted the team based on situation. The two in the middle can be brought against most matchups (incin and dragonite), mamoswine and hatterene are more situational, usually used against tr or rain ocassionally and the top 2 are rly good against most weather teams and kinda steal the spotlight when brought.

The team is rly bulky and pretty balanced with one major flaw in the fact that only 2 pokemon currently have protect. Dragonite can use protect but its hard to justify removing any of the other moves. Scarf-Basculegion and Incin don't usually run protect so thats fine. You could easily run protect over after you on hatterene and you probably should but after you is kinda usefull in order to further combat hard tr.
