Is Coaching Sneasler Viable? VGC Team Building Advice

Resumo

The Pokémon Champions | VGC Battles & Tournaments community is diving deep into the viability of Coaching Sneasler in competitive play. This discussion explores item optimization between White Herb and Focus Sash, while analyzing team synergy with Annihilape, Corviknight, and Sinistcha. Members are actively debating optimal item choices and Mega evolution slots to improve consistency in the current VGC meta.

Building a team around this guy but it's success is so inconsistent. Sneasler itself is being weird. With white herb I can't get any coaching's off but it is much easier to get the unburden off, while focus sash gets a lot nore coachings off but is super inconsistent with the proc of the ability.

I thought it would go really well with Annihalape, Corvinight and Sinistcha, but I am failing on finding a Mega that fits nicely, Gyarados seemed like a good option as it would go well with the Coaching.

Also tried Inceneroar but then I started just struggling against the 100 Mega Staravias.

Any thoughts?

I think coaching sneasler is fine, but worse than other coaching mons

happykitten-50

Such as Blaziken imo

@happykitten-50 Such as Blaziken imo
ivoryledger-35 OP

How so? I have never encountered a Coaching Blaziken

@cleverinbox-49 Why are we using shell bell dawg
ivoryledger-35 OP

😅 i have no clue what item to put on him

ivoryledger-35 OP

I was even considering no item cuz i got destroyed by a poltergeist aegislash a couple of times

cleverinbox-49

Life orb or sitrus

@ivoryledger-35 I was even considering no item cuz i got destroyed by a poltergeist aegislash a couple of times
cleverinbox-49

The only pokemon this format were you can justify not using an item is talonflame

cleverinbox-49

Poltergeist powerful and all but its literally just aegislash who uses it a lot

@ivoryledger-35 How so? I have never encountered a Coaching Blaziken
happykitten-50

Been using it with Metagross
Protect for one turn, have focus sash and you can get as many coachings as you need haha

happykitten-50

I also run heat wave + close combat

cleverinbox-49

Coaching sneasler is still good tho

happykitten-50

Oh yeah for sure

cleverinbox-49

Was used a lot with gyrados in ma

happykitten-50

Interesting

cleverinbox-49

Wait shoot this is a gyrados team

cleverinbox-49

My brian just completely overlooked the mega

happykitten-50

Lmao

ivoryledger-35 OP

Supposed to be ahah

happykitten-50

Could definitely consider Blaziken thoufh

happykitten-50

Maybe test it and see if it solves any problems :D

cleverinbox-49

Lash out is arguably better than crunch since it only does slightly less damage than crunch and punishes the many many many intimidaters this format

@cleverinbox-49 My brian just completely overlooked the mega
ivoryledger-35 OP

i had incineroar instead of mega raichu but after several staravias i thought i needed something to deal with them

cleverinbox-49

Hear me out

ivoryledger-35 OP

I'm listening

cleverinbox-49

If you ran electross over raichu you could use a ground attacker like garch or mamo

cleverinbox-49

Rly easily

ivoryledger-35 OP

I love that actually

ivoryledger-35 OP

so take off raichu and sinistcha?

ivoryledger-35 OP

or are we bailing on Annihalape

cleverinbox-49

I think annihilape is a weaker link here

ivoryledger-35 OP

Agreed

ivoryledger-35 OP

Can you help me out with the movesets?

cleverinbox-49

Garch hits slightly harder than mamo and is way better defensively letting you use life orb or sitrus or smthing but mamo can't be intimidated, has one of the best offensive typings in the game and has a priority attack

@ivoryledger-35 Can you help me out with the movesets?
cleverinbox-49

Sure

ivoryledger-35 OP

Not me recruiting for Eelektross as we speak

cleverinbox-49

You can ask in #channel

ivoryledger-35 OP

found one

@ivoryledger-35 found one
cleverinbox-49

Damn thats fast

ivoryledger-35 OP

yeah i got lucky with the ticket

cleverinbox-49

With corv, body press is a bit suspect given that you don't have iron defence

@cleverinbox-49 With corv, body press is a bit suspect given that you don't have iron defence
ivoryledger-35 OP

I thought i'd cover for that with coaching but, in all fairness, I haven't been that successful with corvinight

cleverinbox-49

I'd say to either use bulk up or iron head in its place

cleverinbox-49

You can even replace protect with the other of those 2 moves since corv doesn't necessarily need it

ivoryledger-35 OP

Going to run Garchomp because I don't have mamoswine
