Summary
In the Pokémon Champions | VGC Battles & Tournaments server, members are debating the competitive viability of Basculegion-F versus Basculegion-M. The discussion covers optimal move sets, item choices like Focus Sash, and team synergy improvements. This thread provides valuable insight into high-level VGC team building, offering advice on how to refine support roles and handle common meta threats like Incineroar and Rillaboom.
I've been using this team for a while, here's the pokepaste: https://pokepast.es/03f50b6ced294f08 Anyway I've been seeing a lot of Basculegion-F and have been seriously considering it, as it kinda gets around the Incineroar counter to Basculegion-M and is able to possess ice beam pressure which is just super nice. Is it worth it or no?
Also does anyone have advice on how to better read what pokemon my opponent's might bring?
ok then the question is do I run muddy water or surf
do I use the wide lens then?
so it doesn't miss as much
cause I hate losing games to moves missing SO much
u mean sash?
ok so then I'd assume somethin like Basculegion-F @ Focus Sash 2 HP 32 Sp. Atk 32 Spe Timid nature Protect Muddy Water Shadow Ball Ice Beam ?
hm... but then what about the Basculegion-M matchups? Or opposing Basculegion-F Timid?
I'll run calcs see if modest is necessary for the big threats Basc would threaten
I mean like I technically do have other pokemon that can hit them, but like what if they die? Little improvements are very valuable ya know
For your team specifically, I don't like basc f. It is still weak to incin all the same and is generally weaker than basc-m. The real issues with your team are running swift swim basc rather than something like adaptability scarf or sash as well as scrafty just being a far inferior incineroar and sableye just kind of existing to support basculegion swift swim
woaaahh now buddy back up. Sableye exists for several other reasons first of. First of all, screens are just extremely nice and have won me SO many games. Encore is amazing disruption and has won me a lot of games too, and then rain dance provides weather control, swift swim for basculegion AND weakens rillaboom and gholdengo
Then use a better screen setter like grimmsnarl
I tried it
You asked for advice. Sableye is a liability here
but I really missed the encore and weather control that whimsicott offered
how exactly is sableye a liability?
(also as for scrafty I'm still on the fence about it ngl it's knock off is really nice but I'm still not sure if I perfer it over incin)
It is entirely support and is a third weakness to fairy that only has a gholdengo with zero bulk to defened it
bulky gholdengo is a thing?
how do people run it?
Yeah gholdengo is naturally very bulky, investing in its bulk does a lot
I personally run 17hp on it but I have a more unorthodox setup, let me find one that is more common hold on
