Original Post

Hi everyone, I want to build a sand team, and I know excadrill and tyranitar are the core for these often, but I also want to use Ursaluna. Is there a viable way to build around these three?

As I am new to competitive I am getting stuck around making this work… any tips? :)

Reply

Yeah, that was the issue I was getting in as well, could a tailwind setter work though? Or would it be better to just make two teams

Coaching in sneasler isn’t really a thing add protect instead the rest seems ok

Reply

Thanks!

Now that we know the ability of excadrill, is it safe to assume that the mega won’t have the same synergy as it loses sand force, therefore another mega could be added to this team?

Reply

Mega t tar and focus sash excadrill seems to be the play

Reply

If I were to take sash for excadrill, what would whim get? As dire claw sneasler, of probably most poison moves would end it 😅

Reply

Poison moves won’t effect excadrill I think ? Or am I wrong ?

Mental herb is good on a bulky whimscott

Reply

I know, I meant poison would kill whimsicott :)

Reply

Oh definetly haha !
And yeah no bulk will save whimsi from a strong poison move

Reply

Mental herb to prevent taunt?

Reply

Yeah!

Reply

But their is a lot of snealzer at the moment

Reply

You do have a point

Reply

Yeah, thats why I gave it sash haha, so I get to setup a bit

Reply

I guess you’re stuck with sash for what you’re dealing with rn

Reply

So this is why teambuilding takes so long, taking a lot into consideration.

Reply

Life orb excadrill it is, will start testing with mega ttar then

Reply

Heaps ! One random thought I had idk if it works with your team is Corviknight

Reply

You’ll just need to play him carefully because he does get one tapped

Reply

Can also tailwind

Reply

Tailwind corv, which would mean I don’t need whimsicott

Reply

Haha same thought

Reply

Also has sync with sandstorm

Reply

Immune to eq

Reply

And no sandstorm damage

Reply

I just wanted to say the same, might take that into account

Reply

Corv is more popular in this experimental ladder for pre champions vgc then I swear it’s ever been

Reply

I’m going to build something with it

Reply

Bye whimsicott… for now at least

Reply

Yeah don’t commit just yet haha test it

But I run mental herb and I’ve been tainted only twice now

Getting more flinch’s from rockslide spam then anything else

Reply

Little bit of sleep

Reply

I haven’t had much time to test yet, mainly brainstorming between breaks at work, just as I am doing now

Reply

The list is weird I gotta keep looking at it to remind myself what available

Reply

Corviknight @ Leftovers
Ability: Mirror Armor
Nature: Impish
EVs: 252 HP / 116 Def / 140 SpD /

  • Brave Bird
  • Body Press
  • Tailwind
  • Roost
Reply

same nice exists tho

Reply

This birb might do, need to tweak defenses probably

Reply

Or go with mental herb to prevent taunt

Reply

However as you said, it doesnt pop up much
