Trick Room Team Help Pokémon VGC Tips

Summary

In Pokémon Champions a member asks for help building a Trick Room team. The post details a lead of Maushold and Farigiraf using Follow Me to set Trick Room, with Torkoal and Azumarill as backups and Abomasnow vs Garchomp. They ask about swapping Maushold for Klefki for Prankster and replacing Drampa with Kingambit, seeking strategic tips.

Original Post

Hi everyone

Im pretty new to playing vgc seriously and am trying to make a trickroom team. This is what I got right now. But im debating between a few things. My strategy right now is starting with maushold and farigiraf using follow me to defend the farigiraf so i can do trickroom and then just using follow me with the maushold till it dies i usually have torkoal and azumarill in the back and use abomasnow when my enemy had a garchomp. The things im debating in is swapping the maushold for a klefki because of its prankster ability also im considering swapping in kingambit for drampa because drampa doesnt rlly do anything only o dont onow how to use kingambit. So do u have any tips.
Much thanks!! Sorry for so much text btw

Yeah I try explain to people that maushold is actually mid in regards to tr set up but a lot of people have a hard time accepting it

I’ve been using farifiraf incin
The only lead that can shut it down that I can think of is an imprison farifiraf

Also made my far full bulk with a colbur berry, since my main lead is incin and farifiraf my incin is built a little different to standard . More offensively so my lead isn’t to weak

You could drop hyper voice and dazzling gleam for twin beam . It helps with sash snealzer and substitute gengar

Torkoal abomasnow and Azumarill all work against each other

When suns up Azumarill damage is decreased
When it’s snowy torkoal is no longer a nuke

Reply

I’m having pretty good success with a strange tr team might give you some ideas

Reply
Reply

Using king - I lead with him against opposing trick room teams

Reply

Or sometimes sit him in the back if I think the match up is awkward because his power end game sucker punches can fix that a lot

Reply

Gives speed control when tr ends

Reply

Ty so much

Reply

Still reading everything but ty

Reply

Ye i rlly dont get how sucker punch works

Reply

Goes first only if they’re attacking

Reply

So if they click protect or a status move

Reply

It fails

Reply

Ahhh

Reply

May i ask why you use both a haterene and farigiraf because when i was using a hatterene on my team i rlly had a hard time using it to deal serious damage

Reply

Well in trick room hatterne is second only to torkoal in the damage she can deal

Well if I was vsing your team in the team preview I’d easily notice that farifiraf was your only tr setter.
I’d make sure I could nuke it in my lead

But my team actually is now based around floette. When she mega evolves she boost all fairy damage on the field

Reply

Then hats holding the fairy damage increase item too

Reply

She’s got 2 1.2 boost on her dazzling gleams

Reply

And she can set up trick room for me if it ends if position things correct with incins fake out allowing me a turn of set up when I usually I wouldn’t

Reply

But what pokemon do u usually take in the back then?

Reply

My lead with this particular team. Is almost always incin farif with Hatterne and Floette in the back to do some spread fairy spam

Opposing trick room team most likely lead Floette and incin or king

Reply

With this team I use king less then usual

Reply

And when do u use torkoal then

Reply

Because like i rlly like to use torkoal so idd
Like to not completely copy ur team

Reply

Not often at all anymore either
And I put him first in the team to make them bring the wrong mons to deal with me haha

Reply

Lol

Reply

I’d bring torkoal maybe against an opposing sun team that doesn’t have a check to overwhealming fire damage

Reply

Because even charizard doesn’t like getting hit with an eruption

Reply

In the back always

Reply

Can be used in rain too but once tr is up they win the weather wars

Reply

I find it easier to fairy spam instead

Reply

Alr ill try out ur team then

Reply

I like trick room haha

Reply

Ye me2

Reply

I almost gave up on it in champions but I found a solid lead

Reply

Don’t need to copy the team but feel free to copy the incin and farifiraf

Reply

They work really well

Reply

But you also rdcommend a second tr setter

Reply

Definetly

Reply

One bulky one offensive

Reply

So u use the fake out on their strongest mon or smth and then just tank the rest to set up tr

Reply

Yes

Reply

He also intimidates

Reply

Which would be hatterene

Reply

So the physical attackers arnt that scary

Reply

Dark resist berry so even if I proc a defiant kingambit I’ll still fake out the charizard

Reply

Could u also show a pic of ur stat spread

Reply

Yep I’ll get it now

Reply

But isnt the azumarill good aswell i rlly like its versatility in all its moves like i can use superpower fairy type moves and water type

Reply
Reply

I love azuamrill . Very anti meta

Reply

Ye so its fine if i keep it u think

Reply

I mean azuamrill would actually go quite well with floette im releasing right now haha

Reply

That fairy boost

Reply

Yeah I actually suck at fast teams

Reply

I can only do trick room

Reply

I stuffed myself doing it for to long haha

Reply

Apparently everyone’s building the floette like fluttermanes
Max hp and speed

Reply

So what should i swap it for then?

Reply

Or a kingambit

Reply

Ye i think ill do that

Reply

I love my torkoal too much

Reply

With choice specs item is back he will be better

Reply

He really cleans everything up then

Reply

But did they alr reveal its coming back?

Reply

Eventually it will

Reply

Not this format tho

Reply

Huh i cant transfer my floette to champions

Reply

Ue

Reply

Ye

Reply
Reply

Is it another type or smth

Reply

That’s just a floette

Reply

could u maybe trade me an eternal flower floette bc i dont have za

Reply

Reply

Reply

Reply

Reply

Reply

Reply

but do you have another recommendation if i cant get the floette

Reply

A dude won some tournament with golurk recently

Reply

Was a trick room team

Reply

but does that just straight up replace the floette

Reply

btw do u think i can get one or nah?

Reply

If you can’t get Floette I don’t recommend double megas so yeah I’d replace it with golurk

Reply

Reply
