Hi, I'm new to plokemon champions, allways liked VGC but never played because I had no switch, so this game coming to mobile was areally cool.

Now not having access to pokemon from home I have only used the ranch to recruit pokemon and have build a team that is somewhat competitive, and I can probably get to master rank in double battles with it (I'm Ultra 1 atm and win most games), but I feel like I'm missing some better chemestry/options for a couple of matchups I've been getting.

I will post my thoughts on the team as an answer, as it was too long.

As I have little experience, I wanted to ask you guys for some guidence rounding it out. Here are my main thoughts:

  • Mega Raichu Y is good against most teams, in some capacity but I feel like a second mega option would be good. I am not 100%sold on the idea as I don't know who I would sacrifice.

  • I usually lead Whims Raichu one of two things happen: They focus my Raichu and Whims just starts encoring everyone and forcing them to switch out and I win due to being able to focus one enemy at the time since the other is switching; Or they understand the problem Whims is and they loose 1/2 pokemon from Raichu, trying to take Whims out. This is going well at this level but I feel I am going to be bullied later on.

  • Grass knot on Raichu has won me multiple games against mega swampert rain teams but I feel like I miss protect and fakeout to let tailwing on Whims go up has won me a bunch of other games, so I don't know what to do with his 4th move

  • I mostly have trouble with mega saraptor teams which mostly run from raichu until he's gone and then destroy me, and also hard trick room teams, specially with Farigirafleads (idk how to stop it/ deal with them)

  • I wanted to get Tsareena: to try and fight Farigiraf, sotpping fakeouts; to not have to run grass knot on raichu; to triple axel staraptor. Idk if this would be a good addition, but I still haven't gotten her on the ranch anyways and Idk who I'd remove from the team.

  • I have great pkmn like sneasler and garchomp but I use them only ocasionally and for specific matchups, Idk if they sinergize that well with the team

  • I win most of my battles at this rank because, even if I loose the start and my raichu does very little, scarf Basculegion in the back, in tailwind most of the times, is THE GOAT and cleans up. But this makes me feel like I'm not taking advantage of all pkmn in the team

Sorry if this was long, you can skip most of it, but if you have the time I0d apreciate some feedback 😅

Hey , first of all thanks for the response!

Yes I believe Sneasler is the one to go on this team and I am ready to say goodbye to him (form this team). I didn't find myself using him tham much, honestly mostly when incineroar was bad and needed a second coverage of fighting in some specific matchups. But yes, the fairy killer aspect is one that I feel I should preserve somehow, since I don't really have another mon for that. I though about gholdengo (I used him before I had a full team) who can get away with games if he has some support.

Now Skarmory is very interesting and I am willing to give it a try, if I find him in the ranch. The fast non-redirectionable steel type attacks (for the fairy types) and flying coverage seems great. another way to tailwind with base form sturdy also seems cool (although idk if I should full commit to going full tailwind) and versitile, which is something I love. My main problem is this is not a big solution to the 2 team types I am having the most difficulty with: Hard trick room and Mega staraptor.

You mentioned Chomp with rockslide deals with staraptor but the Mega isn't weak to rock and it deals very little damage, specially when he starts to set up defensively. That's why I mentioned Tsareena ( Triple axel for staraptor + no rederection/fakeouts so I can kill Farigaraff quickly before trick room goes up). I could also get a Skarmory + change some other pkmns build to deal with those, as a different issue ( even switch another pkmn for a different, more useful one).

Also thought about switching psychic fangs for ice fangs on Basc for Staraptor but he's also weak to psychic moves, its the same base dmg and it doesn't do much. damage anyways. and Psychic fangs kill sneaslers who is more common

Btw just pulled Skarmory 😅
