Unfortunate Times: Chaos Shard Encounter

Cherry would be sitting down in a small little enclave within a tree she had found, messing with her equipment after her most recent stop in the city to resupply herself. She was trying to make some upgrades to her equipment to handle negative chaos energy far better, looking to a master emerald shard as..she was getting an idea.

She’d decide, that, despite her lack of permission..her best option was to use the shard for her gauntlet. She knows that it’s part of the master emerald but she also realizes she had little to no choice. If she kept it without any purpose she’d constantly have to deal with twice the instability with her negative chaos energy..so..why not instead try to make this work in her favor?

In silence she’d be doing her research, she was looking over documentaries and study cases over chaos energy that were public at least, trying to find some sort of way— a method, a technique— anything to try and use the shard to her advantage.. {C}

Cherry quickly turns, grabbing a hold of the master emerald shard quickly as she sparks with some negative chaos in the midst of her panic. Just where did this stranger come from?! WHY does everyone keep somehow sneaking up on her like this?

She would hold tightly the shard of the master emerald which while was interesting, her bag was set to the side of the moment and the pouch of fake emeralds inside the bag weren’t hard to detect..especially those filled with nothing but negative chaos energy. Quite the odd little mobian for messing with a type of energy you could never access normally..though it raises some questions as to why it’s so abundant for her as it surges within her body.

“…..”

She’s not letting her guard down for even a second as she’s ready to even disable her gauntlet to fight back if she has to..she can tell whoever this person before her was dangerous at least, a lot like Nazo was but much more powerful..whoever this individual was she can’t afford to be slacking in her judgement. Not again..she’s already made one lopsided deal and having to deal with another is not going to be in her favor if that’s even what they’re after.. {C}

Cherry would listen to IX, looking up towards him as her nerves were practically signaling danger constantly, though, that also is likely her own powers burning into them..what to do? She’s offered something— but she has no idea what the item is and she’s actually heard of IX. Not much but..enough to know he’s incredibly intelligent considering the technology of his civilization and the tactics he employed..Plus for something so priceless they were offering something that— they could easily use as a way to manipulate her further. It’s not a good deal at all..

“As much as I see the offer as tempting— I’m not up for a deal with another devil in a single month..”

Cherry would be ready to disable her gauntlet, she hated this. Why did it have to come to this?..why couldn’t she have just left this stupid shard somewhere else?! Either way she’s in this mess now and she’s not letting this shard go if she can do something about it.

“I really would rather avoid fighting but something tells me even if I handed this over I’d still be in a bad spot knowing your reputation Imperator IX..no offense.” {C}

At the notice of his outburst, she’s much more on the defensive..actually since IX arrived she’s been incredibly cautious. She knows the value of even the single piece of the master emerald. Likely knowing some of his history she knows IX likely could find ways to use it for far more than what she could just let it go for..but the idea of having access to technology from IX’s civilization is extremely tantalizing..

“…..”

IX likely has a good grasp of who Cherry is as a person now..she’s incredibly cautious, overly cautious and dutiful in fact. It’s likely that despite seeing benefits she’d rather refuse an offer anyways due to either knowing one’s past to an extent or perhaps identifying behavioral patterns..

(“Either way..if IX is planning something with the master emerald that can turn around to hurt me to— but..if I fight with him there’s no way I could win— I don’t even think letting myself go out of control would do anything since he could easily get away and wait it out..and running likely is a lost endeavor. But..could even IX get a hold of the other shards at the bottom of the ocean?..Doubtful that whoever destroyed it would let him..”)

“If the technology helps me stabilize myself for certain, deal.”

(“I just hope this won’t be another trick..I’m in no position to even refuse unless I want to be dead..”) {C}

She hesitates handing the shard over, but eventually puts it into his hand. He’s getting far more out of this than what she is likely. Information for any side of a deal is— practically invaluable. But considering she had to get something out of this, lack of their being a better way to approach this she has to oblige.

“Well..if you can’t already tell, I guess my gauntlet is doing its job well then…cause usually I’d be overloading with negative chaos energy right now.”

She would open a pouch revealing— a pretty hefty sum of fake emeralds chok full of negative chaos energy. Though that does line up with the weird behavior Cherry has, being constantly on edge and the scars on her body line up with more— explosive attacks being used on her upon first glance. But now, it’s far more likely these were explosive reactions rather than her being attacked..

“My body rapidly generates negative chaos energy—somehow..and..it eventually overcharges me and forces me into a super form that I— won’t ever have control over.” {C}

(“…despite it being- volatile, it has its use cases, from what I’ve— been able to document..negative chaos energy has the ability to outright nullify chaos energy or similar sources at high enough concentrations. I don’t think I should mention that, them even knowing about this energy is dangerous..”)

“Negative chaos energy is.. a smaller part of chaos energy, but if it could just be consistently drained when I want it to be that would work perfectly for me…because attempting to stabilize it so far in my life has not done me any favors..and I’ve yet to find anything that can hold everything I generate..”

She’s still having her wits about her, she really won’t let her guard down. Likely she treats everyone like this without much of a thought about how it’s perceived. A more so— reclusive lifestyle they must live for such a behavioral pattern to form.

But fixing her gauntlet on her hand she’d be wondering if..anything could go wrong, the obvious answer being of course it could. IX is a highly intelligent individual who could both make a solution and hide a thousand problems of his own within any sort of gift he may offer..if only she actually understood his technology could she even begin to comprehend if there’s some hidden trick or not.

“The weird thing to me is— no matter what I do I can’t stabilize it…seems kinda fruitless when recently it’s spontaneously spiked in total output for a reason I can’t even figure out.” {C}

She nods, understandably she knows the absurdity of her own conundrum..to actually contain energy that can spontaneously grow at its own pace within a body that is already struggling to handle it..sure inhibitors could work but the reason it works for Shadow is due to consistency, which Cherry herself, unfortunately does not have the luxury of dealing with in her own scenario.

“Well..it’s..not like I have many options, could try disabling it outright but..for some reason I don’t feel like it’d work— er..I guess the best way to put it is that there have been people who’ve seen places where I lost control. The negative chaos energy lingers in most of these areas.. That— is mostly what I hear of the reaction but I never wake back up in time to actually see it for myself..”

As IX absorbed this energy he found that..there’s something else at play, something that— seemed..quite.. addictive. It’s hard to put a finger on what that energy was but it’s certainly not just chaos energy within her body. The oddity becoming even more apparent when you factor in she does indeed have normal chaos energy, but it’s clashing with whatever this secondary energy within her body is constantly which may be resulting in this absurd amount of negative chaos.. {event}

Watching everything appear out of thin air— well, somewhat..she did notice what was dropping off the material but it still was incredible to her. This technology is unlike anything she’s seen and Cherry’s used to seeing things far above her own caliber..but not like this.

Cherry notices the tug on her gauntlet, quickly disengaging the fastening to allow him to do what he needed to whilst she grabs a fresh fake emerald, just holding it tightly to pour negative chaos energy into it to keep herself..relatively stable at least. Actually she can’t help but also be a bit excited, this technology shes about to be presented with is— something she could only ever dream of! Plus being praised for something that Cherry herself finds to be quite crude is quite shocking to her..

“I—…I’m surprised it impressed you…I’m kind of used to seeing things that far surpass what I’ve made but— being praised while seeing something this absurdly advanced is..an experience..”

She would be watching the process intently, trying to gauge and understand the changes happening to her gauntlet. Her eyes lighting up as she stared as the process continued..if she could figure out how to make technology like this herself— could she finally free herself from the relentless torment of her own power?.. {C}

Throughout the process IX would likely notice some of Cherry’s features changing in response to the amount of negative chaos within her body. Her eyes sometimes going from pink to a crimson red and her fur turning partially white as snow..now at the question about having some of the fake emeralds she thinks back to Nazo- shit..she’ll have to make sure to at least hold up their agreement if she dosen’t wanna start a fight with him.

“Uhm— no..not at all. Feel free to grab some of the fake emeralds they’re about as common as a minerals with how many were mass produced at one point in time..”

She listens carefully as she places the gauntlets onto her hands, she started with only one but now had two— probably to account for the fact she mentioned that..sometimes she’d explode due to the energy breaking loose.

“Honestly a garuntee is a miracle in my eyes, but this is already a gift by doing more than just keeping up with the energy..”

She would be admiring the changes made to it, mostly she could feel the changes as she flexes her hands, it’s actually quite a bit better to wear now as a proper glove! But..she hopes that this won’t come back to bite her by accepting help. Despite comparing reputation to the reality she still feels like something could go wrong if she’s not at least..cautious.. {C}

(“I..am either really unlucky..or extremely lucky..and somehow I still feel like if I were either I’d still be in trouble with how absurd my circumstances seem seem to be..”)

Cherry continues marveling at the gauntlet for a while, testing some features it has..then— finally continues hiking to— well some sort of civilization to restock herself.. {C}
