Understanding The Law: Biblical Meaning and Grace

Summary

In the Symbols for Object Lessons server, this announcement provides a theological breakdown of the Law, distinguishing between the Law of God and the Law of Moses. It explores how the Law remains eternal while explaining the transition from the penalty of sin to the freedom found in grace through Jesus Christ. The discussion utilizes KJV scripture references to clarify the binding character of the Law and its application to modern faith.

There is the law of faith, the law of God. Which is one law. And the law of Moses which is a reminder and set of rules to keep Israel in the law of God and to remind them of the coming hope, that is, Jesus Christ.
Exodus 13:8-9 KJV

Exodus 20 - the 10 Commandments

1 Corinthians 7:39 KJV
The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.

(This shows that the law has binding character as in marriages, so as every man that is under the law. But in Christ we are under grace, because we don't get what we deserve which is death, but we are still to keep the law, because it is eternal and God is also and God doesn't change, so the law also.)

1 Corinthians 9:8-9 KJV

(This shows how the law is saying "the laborer is worthy of his wages". How the ox is eating while it works. For this is just to give the laborer his wages.)

calmpixel-87 OP

1 Corinthians 14:34 KJV

(This is because of things in the marriage. How the husband is to rule to house and to love his wife as Christ loved the church and died and resurrected for give her life. And so must the wives listen to her husband and obey him, because Eve was first deceived then Adam, the scriptures says.)

calmpixel-87 OP

1 Corinthians 15:56 KJV

(Why does it say strength of sin? Because sin is like crime. If we are under the law then the crimes we commit have a punishment and that punishment is that "strength", but now, because we are no longer getting what we deserve by the law -which is death that we deserve - but are forgiven, because of the sacrifice that paid for our sins on Calvary. Grace is when you get what you don't deserve. Therefore if now we don't get the punishment of sin, then sin has lost it's strength, because Christ is stronger then death. But to every man that is not in Christ Jesus, he still has his sins against him.)

Galatians 3:11-13 KJV

(So the law is based on works/good deeds, but faith that is in Christ Jesus is the justifier that makes a man just in the sight of God. Because faith is the thing that gives us the promises which are of God. For if a promise is made and you have no faith it in. Then it will be in void for you at that time you have no faith. Not that the promise is void, but that the promise prospers, because of God and your faith together. Faith is the believe on something that is unseen. )

calmpixel-87 OP

Hebrews 11:1-3 KJV
So we are justified of our faith and not of works. Works are the fruits of your faith. For when you believe and have faith you will do the works that are goo

calmpixel-87 OP

Galatians 3:17-19 KJV

(So the law was talking about Christ, the coming savior of the world, back then in the old testament. What was it? A promise of a savior.

The savior Himself has already planned to come to the world, before that promise, but God just gives them hope to live by in the old testament. Jesus is even at the beginning of the foundations of the whole world and to the end of eternity, which is at the point of eternity itself. The savior also has a promise for his true followers. Eternal life. By believing in Jesus Christ you will be saved and have eternal life.

And now you may see that the law of Moses had a similar idea. To promote faith and good works. You obtain that promise by your faith.)

Ephesians 2:15 KJV

(The commandments in the ordinance are to help you change your ways to the commandments of The LORD and to His commandments and statutes and judgements and to renew you from a sinful heart to a clean heart. This change is only possible if you chose do to do so. Like God will not force you to keep His judgements nor His commandments, because of your freewill. But the commandments and the judgements are light and freedom. But now when the Holy Spirit has come then we are to keep faith in Christ.)

calmpixel-87 OP

Philippians 3:4-6 KJV
(Understanding that each man has the law, whether it be in your hearts or minds or in your scriptures or studies, you have encounter it at some point.)

calmpixel-87 OP

1 Timothy 1:7-10 KJV

(doctrine is given to them that don't walk accordingly to the scriptures and need correction. That correction is suppose to make them a better person in his ways. The ways of The LORD are the ways we have to keep. The correction is not sweet to some, but to other is. That the correction may bring life. For we are dead in sin and in our transgressions. That we may live in the purity of our souls and continue to do the good works of faith and love.)

calmpixel-87 OP

Titus 3:9 KJV

If there is no peace in the conversations then the law in that situation will have no profit. Not "profit" as "the promises", but rather "profit" in loving your neighbor as yourself. So in every conversation there shall be peace and understanding.

calmpixel-87 OP

Hebrews 7:11-12 KJV

The law is as according to the priesthood and scripture.

calmpixel-87 OP

Hebrews 8:4 KJV

the priests follow the law by doing these things which are the shadow of the hope to come, and it has already came.

Hebrews 9:19 KJV

shows how we are cleansed from our sins through the blood of Jesus Christ which was shed on Calvary.

calmpixel-87 OP

Hebrews 9:22
And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

this is the payment. The shedding of blood.
Hebrews 10:1
For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

As having said above. The law having a shadow of the good things to come. The hope of the savior to come and save the people from their sins. That hope is found in Jesus Christ.
Hebrews 10:8 KJV

The payment for our sins is paid for them that believe on the name of Jesus and have turned away from their sin -meaning repentance-. He being the perfect sacrifice.
Hebrews 10:28 KJV

Because they are under the law.
