The survivors entered Drakmar believing the ruins were empty.

The gardens answered first.

Among broken courtyards and pathways reclaimed by roots, they encountered Aleanah Dawnblade—a Malfhi woman of pointed ears, flowering adornments, clawed hands and feet, healing pollen, and the quiet grace of a people shaped by Natura.

She did not greet the survivors as conquerors.

She did not greet them as trespassers.

She looked upon Galatea and recognized her as one known to Natura.

Lu’ulf Chen saw something else.

He saw claws.

He saw a tail.

He saw hidden passages and hive-like chambers beneath the ruins. Fear taught him to imagine an enemy before Aleanah had committed any hostile act.

He called her Dawnblade as though the name were a warning.

Aleanah answered fear through cultivation.

She fed those who were hungry.

She prepared herbs for the wounded.

Her pollen brought rest to people who had forgotten how to sleep without terror. She comforted children, restored scarred soil, cleared poisoned waterways, and planted roots where Humanity had expected only graves.

She did not demand ownership of Drakmar.

She offered shared habitation within it.

Through Aleanah, the survivors learned that the ruined city was not dead ground awaiting possession. Life had continued beneath its fallen stones. Any civilization raised there would need to join that life rather than bury it.

Lu’ulf eventually understood what his fear had concealed.

He apologized.

Aleanah accepted.

Their reconciliation became one of Holme’s earliest proofs that Humanity could confront its inherited suspicion without surrendering its need for safety.

Aleanah became the First Mother of Natura, the First Gardener of Holme, and the woman remembered as the Mother Who Made the Ruins Bloom.

Her influence entered the city’s foundations.

Holme developed orchards beside civic roads, medicinal gardens near places of healing, cultivated waterways, sleep sanctuaries, public groves, seed repositories, and architecture that allowed roots, light, water, and living canopies to remain part of civic life.

Cultivation became more than labor.

It became an obligation owed by civilization to the world sustaining it.

Aleanah’s promise entered the foundation of Holme:

By Aleanah, no home shall be built as though the world beneath it were dead.

The Eternal City did not rise by erasing Drakmar.

It grew through the ruins, repaired what could be restored, and permitted memory and nature to inhabit the same stones.

Where others saw the remains of a civilization, Aleanah saw wounded soil.

Then she knelt—

and taught a republic how to bloom.
