In 📚 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗔𝗥𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗦 𝗢𝗙 𝗛𝗢𝗟𝗠𝗘, this announcement unveils the history of Lu’ulf Chen, the legendary commander who established the doctrine of restrained strength. It details his transition from a soldier of old Humanity to the Father of Duty, explaining how his principles formed the foundation of the Holman Legions. This lore entry is essential for community members looking to understand the core values and historical defense strategies that define the civilization of Holme.
Before Holme possessed walls, Lu’ulf Chen understood why walls were raised.
He was human.
A soldier, protector, and commander born during the final age of old Humanity, Lu’ulf belonged to the last political generation alongside Hester Nikola Zank and the mortal Nilofar.
Their friendship was one of Humanity’s final moral remnants.
Hester questioned authority.
Nilofar remembered those affected by it.
Lu’ulf carried the burden of acting when neither knowledge nor memory could prevent danger alone.
He traveled aboard the Doom Falcon when it was ark, refuge, archive, tomb, and haunted memory-palace. When catastrophe claimed Nilofar, Lu’ulf survived beside Hester.
Survival did not make him fearless.
It made him afraid of losing what remained.
He distrusted the Aeterni.
He feared the Malfhi.
He prepared for wars that mercy would prevent and worried that endless questioning might weaken the authority required to protect a vulnerable people.
Yet Lu’ulf’s greatness was not that he had never been wrong.
It was that he changed when truth overcame fear.
When the survivors reached ruined Drakmar, he declared that Humanity could not clear its ancient stain through denial. It would do so through conduct—by becoming worthy of trust in the presence of those it had once misunderstood.
Lu’ulf gave the growing civilization its doctrine of restrained strength:
Peace is the purpose of power.
Duty without restraint becomes conquest.
Restraint without courage becomes surrender.
From this principle came the Holman Legions. They were not created to rule foreign peoples or feed an empire. They defended settlements, escorted travelers, recovered the lost, surveyed dangerous lands, maintained roads, and preserved the peace in which civilization could endure.
Lu’ulf became the Father of Duty.
His promise entered the foundation of Holme:
By Lu’ulf, duty shall defend the people without ruling them.
He did not teach Holme never to raise a sword.
He taught it whom the sword must serve—and when honor required that it remain sheathed.
