Well, why is one considered romantic and the other not. It's romance something that is of two people, what happened to the agency of the lady
Proposing is something seeing as associated with masculinity
Well, that's cause, movies, history and society all that decided those for me. I was never consulted when when those association assigning was made.
Can a man carry a pregnancy ? Ofc not if they do it'll be not seeing as romantic
Then you should carry a child next time
Love that!
I would like to say that pregnancy and the topic at hand at two different things. I was just asking who defines what's romance and what those scripts are
And women dont have male body parts, whats ur point
It's all just a bit toxic, forcing roles and things I didn't bargained for. I was never consulted and those don't make me any less of a man. A man is defined by the state of which I was born in not what I am expected to do
Exactly, totally unrelated
Ofc men and women cant be equal in the physical sense. But we are equaly in a cerebral sense.
and - damn!!! The best duo on the planet!!!!
Love you guys!!!!!
Well, some things have to be looked at
I can't just take on things that were decided before when I was born
For real
The biological fact wasn't just it for this context
Exactlyyy
Tanks
Exactly! People decided some things in totally different contexts and circumstances. And we should be stupid enough to follow it.
Don’t understand that shit at all
For real. They don't even question why it was the man's role as per history when it's a stuff that both of the said people can do. It's time to give back the "agency Nd initiative to both people" well, if there is risk in such an act then it's fair Nd equal Nd logical for both to share that
Exactlyyyyy!!!
So just found out. Marriage back then as history had it was a financial and legal transaction . Women had less rights Nd power. So it did make sense for the man to be the one doing that since he held both legal and economical power. But times have changed, both genders are arriving at a point of equality, so hanging unto a rule ofa different era without understanding why it was so is just illogical
Yeahh! I think men and women have also been fed some concepts since birth and they are also based on these historical gender roles.
That explains why a woman would want the man to propose and why people think being a man is proposing
But people need to realise the difference between what equality really is. And its okay to have personal preferences, but making comments in generality that men should propose, without even having a logical reason is ignorant
For real, we grow up with Media, literature and society scripts . You are right, nothing is logical bonding those acts to a specific gender
Personal pref is okay like you said, but making that as a baseline for others too is not right, what about their own preferences
If lady seek to do it, fine by all
If a guy seek to do it fine by all
It shouldn't be awkward cause it isn't
Exactly my pointtt
Yeah
People shouldn't do things become who or what they are but rather based on if they want to do it
hello
Taking responsibility. If you’re making your woman buy a ring for you then its kind of pathetic.
Obviously there’s exceptions to relationships so im not really going there. But in general if you’re the man of the house, its ur responsibility to propose.
yea well you do u wait for your wife to propose 👍
Yup, well said my man!!
That's where you might be understanding our point in the wrong way. One I'm not making someone get me a ring, two I'm giving both people the freedom to do what they want which is both can propose if they want. Well, the responsibility you speak of, sounds like forced upon ones not one I took on by myself. Third, your logic of man of the house sounds like making the man everything in a relationship
My pleasure miss!!
It's okay for you to do it if you want to, but you shouldn't be doing it just because you are a guy but rather because you want to do it
GOD! I couldn’t agree more
Exactlyyyy
And not take offence if you woman proposes u before u propose her
Why would anyone be offended by that. A man doing it is because he wants to be with her, a lady doing it should mean the same. Or ladies don't want to be with their partners?
I agree, but here I feel based on the previous chats, guys would get offended just because they got proposed too
Its not something “forced” upon you. You’re literally in a relationship with someone by your OWN choice. If you dont have the intent to marry them then just step off either way its irrelevant.
Putting that aside, the “responsibility” is not a burden that someone has to be put through. If ur a guy, its not an obligation but if you’re a good man to your woman, you should be paying for things. Getting it down to the point where she has to buy the wedding ring for her own self is just not something that i or most men would want personally, idk abt u.
And about the thing u said that responsibilities were decided before you were born so you never really got to “choose” what u wanna do. Yea thats right nobody gets to choose what they want to be. You’re either born as a man biologically, or a woman. Every man has responsibilities which hes supposed to take care of, includes making bread for the house, helping your wife out with things, teaching values to your children, etc. Nobody “wants” to take on responsibilities but the world doesnt revolve around you so u can either keep on crying about it or just accept it and move on.
It wouldnt be offensive, but rather pitiful for me, if i really made my woman buy a ring for her own self
Well. I don't know if you get me before, I only said I should be doing those only because I want to and not because it's expected of me
No no, what if she bought a ring for u
