Hey , we want to hear your opinion about potentially adding reviews and upvotes to our server listing pages.
Here are some rules and guidelines that we can think of for reviews:
- One review per person
- We will verify if the user is still in the server.
- Reviews can be taken down only if they are factually untrue
- Server owners can reply and rebute the reviews.
- If the member is no longer in the server, reviews are NOT counted in the aggregate score.
*We've started experimenting with reviews, but your opinions matter for us to continue to iterate on this feature.
For upvotes, here are some quick thoughts:
- We want members to vote on your server listing page AND see a list of important announcements and notifications from your server at the same time.
- We can either make upvotes to be the most important factor on the page, or maybe 80% importance along with other factors
- You can revote every 12 hours
We've foreseen a couple of difficulties with upvote features; love to hear your thoughts
- Making a habit for users to come back and vote
- Tangible benefits that we can provide to your members. For server, we can do something like the server that is most upvoted this week got to be featured for free next week.
- I don't want members to feel excessively like a grind experience, but I'd like your members to see more (or a quick overview) on all the important things happening in your servers (so the voting page doubles as an important server highlight board).
- Another part of the reason is that in the future, we want you to be able to set up affiliate links so that the users can purchase something and you will be able to get some bonus from members' support organically.
Let me know your thoughts or servers that you've seen that has done this very well!

Waiting on reviews. Discord server reviews is a pretty empty market.
The server that is most upvoted in a week will mean the biggest server will win so this will just be biased.

so another way we can do it is basically disboard where we show the latest upvote on the front page, and the third option here is to show the votes with a time decay factor, so a big server would have to upvote all the time to be on the front page
The Disboard one is cool, gives every server a chance. Third sounds interesting too, they would have to be tried out.

disboard has a problem because they can only do 12 servers per page, so not all the ones that bump shows up
our idea sitaution is to entice users to go to the site and vote and then we show them maybe things they can do, they will be monetary related, it can be an ads, or a paid quests, and then we do revenue share with the server owners, so thats our way partially to help server monetize
btw, we've just added bot notificaiton, so when a person reviewed your server and give you a high rating, we allow you to notify the rest of the servers to encourage more members to come and review (toally opt in), let me know what u think!
Ah, something like a boost thanks? I'll check that out. As to reviewing, haven't yet notified anyone about leaving a review, will make some kind of announcement soon and see if the reviews system is nice.

This is not clear, I cannot find a way to upvote the server, I see that one vote per 12h a server, but not where I do that. Is it that I cannot upvote as Admin?
Well, I don't see a way to upvote servers I am in either. Should be somewhere on the site, but not clear.
Ah, I see the confusion, Max!
Here's the deal: our ranking system actually doesn't use bump or upvote buttons like traditional server directories do! You don't need to hunt for a vote button every 12 hours or spam your members with reminders. (Pretty nice, right?)
Instead, the platform uses an automatic activity-based ranking system. Your server naturally rises in the listings based on your recent community activity and daily active users.
So, as long as your server is active and buzzing, the system does all the heavy lifting for you automatically. You and your members can just chill and focus on chatting!

i am gonna fix the bug on admin upvote and make a push!
we are currently focusing on review, but yeah, will fix the upvote buttom.. we are thinking of something like everyday the one that is most upvoted will show up as the first server right after the paid featured servers slot, so that it shows up right away
but there's a lot of details that we ahevnt figure out for upvote yet!

idk but you can do something like "featured server" on monthly or weekly basis, the most voted server will be shown in the featured server so the interested one will work more on getting upvotes (Human instinct to climb up the leaderboard) and also they will perfer your server listing more than any other because of this perk
