Server Monetization (Coming in 2–3 Weeks!)

We’re actively building our monetization features to help you fund and grow your community. Here is the rollout plan:

Phase 1 (MVP): Tipping & Mission Boards
- Direct tipping from members.
- A public Mission Board showing where tips go (e.g., server boosts, custom perks, and level unlocks).

Phase 2: Subscriptions & Global Payments
- Recurring monthly subscriptions.
- Broad international payment support (including UPI in India and Pix/local methods in Brazil).
Note: Server owners will just need a connected Stripe account to receive payouts.

New Feature: Reddit Gamification

Following the success of our X (Twitter) integration, we’re bringing engagement tracking to Reddit!
- Live Alerts: Instant Discord notifications whenever there’s a new post or mention involving your subreddit.
- Gamified Engagement: Reward members for interacting with and upvoting your Reddit posts.

🎯 Who is this for?
This is primarily designed for enterprise clients, but we are offering free pilots to a few communities with active subreddits. If you run a subreddit and want a free trial, shoot us a DM!

Here’s a quick update on what we’ve been working on over the past week:

• Moderation: We’ve made another round of changes that should result in fewer false positives. The biggest change is adding confidence levels, so we’ll only remove text and images when we’re highly confident they violate our moderation rules. Please keep an eye on this next week and let us know if you see any false positives.

• Voting and reviews: We’ve started integrating voting more deeply into the bot to encourage members to vote naturally within your communities. We also made a small flow change: if someone who’s been in your server for a while votes for the first time but hasn’t left a review, we’ll gently nudge them to review as well. More bot-side improvements are coming.

• Server listing: About 90% of users who view your server listing will now see a new version of our ranking algorithm. We’ll share a blog post soon with more details on how it works. In short, higher-quality servers will get more time on the front page. We’ll also reserve dedicated slots for newer or trendy servers, so they still have a chance to get visibility.

• Monetization: We’re starting to explore different monetization features. It’s a slower process, but hopefully we’ll have some mockups and more to share next week.
  One other piece of great news: Stripe, our main payment provider, recently added UPI and PIX support for the Indian and Brazilian markets. I know we have a few communities in those regions, so this should open up some interesting possibilities as we work on monetization.

This is an important one for us. We’ll talk about some of the new changes happening around server discovery, but more importantly, we want to discuss how we can help communities monetize.

We have a lot of ideas we’d love to share and get your thoughts on, especially around two things:
1. Member leaderboards and showing more information about your community on your listing page.
2. The right way to automatically ask users for donations without making it annoying or intrusive.

Quick update for this week, in progress:

• We've updated the new round of moderation, including making image scam detection more accurate and able to handle multiple images at once. In addition, you can now revert a particular moderation action.

• Emoji Dedup: Emoji dedup is mostly done, but we're backfilling to organize the emojis better. In addition. We've done a new round of NSFW moderation to increase its accuracy.

• A/B testing for the new algo is still ongoing, we should be able to give you a bit more data next week.

Things that are in progress:
1. We will add more analytics to give you some ideas on how many times your server listing pages are mentioned in various AIs.
2. We will start integrating bots better into reviews & upvotes on the server by including /vote, /review, and other commands.
3. We are making more adjustments to improve our technical seo; this includes page speed and interlinking.
4. We will finally start looking into adding donation button to your server home page on communityone.

Quick update for this week
- We've pushed out the new design for the server listing page. A/B testing shows a 20-50% improvement in overall engagement and join rate.
- Favs on Emojis. You should be able to star your favorite emojis on the page. This allows you to keep a collection in case you wanna rotate in and out of the emojis. You should see our server added a bit more emojis as well.

- Server translation is done. All high-quality announcements are now being translated into 8 additional languages.

Things that we are working on:
1. We continue to work on moderation-related feature updates.
2. We will start A/B testing a new algorithm in determining who shows up on the front page, specifically on how to incorporate upvotes into the algorithm:

• Preliminarily, we've decided that for every upvote that you get, you will get an additional 10 impressions/views.
• Whoever just got upvoted will show up as the first server (after the sponsored spot) for 5 mins with an indication that it. has just been upvoted.

• Votes are counted for every rolling 30 days.

• Emoji Dedup: We are gonna consolidate the emojis so that there is only one unique emojis rather than a lot of repetitive ones!

Quick updates on whats happening this week:
- Review and Upvotes are both out. You can check out how it works on the #💌・reviews-upvotes channel. We are definitely gonna work more on this, but this is V0; feedback is welcome.
You can go to your server listing page to see upvotes and reviews right now.

• Lots of people want to configure user alerts for the moderation feature, and that is up! You can now turn off the user alert when they violate your moderation. Just go to the general setup page and you will see the toggle to turn off the moderation alert.

• Translation is 80% done. Languages that we translate into: French, Italian, German, Russian, Spanish, Arab. So far, only your important and high-quality announcements are being translated for SEO purposes! We are in the process of translating forum content too.

• New Look for the server category page: We've switched from cards to rows. (image 1 to image 2). We found a 10% improvement in join rate and overall engagement. We are now experimenting with the same UI design for the server listing page

Things that are in progress:
1. We are doing new rounds of moderation updates. SO far, we've got a lot of feedback from you guys! (Really big thank you). Some major improvements: (a) Screening multiple images at once (b) a revoke button so that if we make a mistake, you can revoke a timeout (c) Better logs and better notifications (pointing to the right users, right channels, etc).
2. New UI design for your server detail page. We are taking inspiration from Steam and will experiment with a couple of new designs to increase the join rate once a user is on your page. Stay tuned!
3. Emojis. We will soon allow you to save your favorite emojis locally and also allow you to make collections, so that you can rotate your emojis in and out of Discord.

Quick update on what's happening this week

• You can download and manage emojis directly from our website to your Discord. https://communityone.io/emojis
  With one click, you can download any emojis to your Discord without any manual operations.
  We are also tracking emoji downloads and will share that data with you.
• Update on server backend. We've done a lot of work on improving our infrastructure. It's not perfect, but it is at a tolerable level in terms of uptime. In a lot of instance, you should see a slight increase in pageload speed.

Things that are in progress:
1. Translation: We are now building the pipeline to translate your announcements and forum threads (only the indexable, high-quality ones) from English to 8 other languages. The goal is to further increase your SEO presence and let users in other regions discover your high-quality content.

3. We are gonna work on moderation again! There has been a lot of feedback and issues. They will get resolved in this round of moderation fixes.

Quick update on what's happening this week
- The new server category page is out and stable. Here are some new things:
- Don't worry about the tags. You can continue to tag your server, but based on your descriptions, announcements, and forums (if published), we will also generate more tags for you automatically so that you are not missed for relevant searches
- Show and tell. In addition to showing the server card, in category pages, we are also showing relevant announcements and forum content so that the user has a sense of what you actually talk about.
- Tags and categories are dynamic and grow over time horizontally and vertically.
- - If your server all of a sudden starts to talk a lot about Minecraft (but as a social server in general), you will get automatic Minecraft tags.
- - When we see tags show up often, we will automatically categorize them as a category and do more seo optimizations.
- A/B testing: there are still more UI improvements that we are working on right now via A/BA testing, but the general backend algo is stable!

We've seen our server listing page has a jump in traffic starting last week since the new updates. We will share more data when it comes to it.

Updates on other WIP:

1. We've made good progress in terms of optimizing our backend. Site is still not up over 99% of the time, so still a bit work to do, but we are able to reduce RAM by 20% over the past week.
2. This week, we are likely to work on emoji listing, allowing you to beam emojis from our site directly to your Discord via our bot, so that you dont have to manually download and upload things!

Enterprise
If you are on our enterprise tier, we are launching a new feature called Ops Dashboard to allow you to track issues and highlight members that need your help (and have been missed) live. It sorts of serves as a community co-pilot, please reach out if you are interested!

Quick update on what we are working on

1. Backend upgrade: we continue to see occasional outages on the website part. We are auditing all of our processes and continue to optimize them. This might take a while!

2. New server listing: Almost done! But we are working to optimize speed and memory usage before releasing it. Please find attached some screenshots. One of the biggest winners among the new server listing pages will be content-rich servers. This means that if a user is searching for Minecraft SMP and you have a thread about it, your rank will be higher, and the thread content will be shown to the member. (The thread will have explicit permissions from both you and the OP).

After the new backend algo change, we will start testing different UI designs to enourage users to read what you do, rather than clicking based on images and banners.

Quick update on what's been cooking this week:

1. We've made some backend infrastructure changes to handle thread publishing for a number of large servers. This includes database optimizations. Everyone should see less slow time on the site.

2. You don't see it, but we've added a new round of moderation for both servers and emojis.

3. The biggest changes are around search for emojis and server listings. Our search was way beyond horrible for a long time; you should start seeing us surface your categories, tags, and descriptions significantly better in the next couple of days.

4. Tags: A lot of people are nervous about tags. We are now generating additional, more detailed tags for your servers based on your descriptions and more. For example, if you host a lot of movies and don't mention it in the tags, we automatically add it.
5. Long tail of categories: We've also implemented new systems to serve a long tail of different communities. For example, for Minecraft categories, before, we were just serving 1 category; now a user can find minecraft; minecraft-smp, minecraft-parternships, minecraft-events, minecraft-modded, minecraft-vc, minecraft-creative-mode, minecraft-competitive etc,

Going forward, we will provide more stats and info on both the emojis and the server listing page.

1. One last thing, we've added a Redirect flow for Spark. Suppose that a user keeps tagging Spark and chatting on the general chat, now our Spark will direct the user to go talk in a channel that is specified by you to reduce excessive spam

**What you can do: **
- Tell us more about your server in detail. Communities have long tails, and the more specific you can be, the better we can surface your server to the right user.
- Give me permissions to see announcements and forums. Content is the modern solution to the old saying "show, don't tell". A new user is more likely to join the server if he sees the kind of conversations that you are talking about vs just hearing your descriptions.

Quick update on what we are working on now

1. Server listing: You don't see it yet, but we are working on a much better search system to surface the right Discord servers when people are searching.
   For example, if you have Discord announcements or forums or descriptions that mention music a lot, but you didn't tag yourself "music", you will still show up when people search for music.
   Over time, we expect many more servers to be discovered, regardless of tags.

2. We've done some investigation about the discrepancy between our website visits vs server listing ads and fixed the bugs. If you decide to spend $15 to show up in the front row, your emojis will also be discovered much more frequently on our emojis page. In a way, people can discover your server via your description and via your emojis.

On a separate note, we have installed a proper tracking mechanism to let you know when someone visits and downloads your emoji Discord pages. If we decide to do ads on those page, we will share the ads revenue with you 🙂

1. Finally, we are still working on a backend update, optimizing our infra, and upgrading our database; we expect this to be a on-going effort for the whole month.

Some side notes:
1. One of our major efforts for this year is to get more servers discovered by the right people (at the right time). An ideal scenario is that when someone is searching for a particular topic, for example, about Ramen, we will recommend our #🐷・food-talk channel as long as it is semi-active. To do this requires us to significantly upgrade our backend.
2. We want to help smaller servers monetize.
I know most of you don't want to make money for the sake of it, but a little community funding to give your members free nitros and pay voluntary mods will go a long way toward making sure you can continue to serve your members over the long term.
This means that if you allow us to publish announcements and forum content on your public server listing page and the page has ads, we will start sharing ad revenue with you. It's still in its infancy, but we are making plans to make it happen. (This also means that we will beef up moderation more).

Hey guys! Quick update from us

• Moderation for Verified Servers: you may or may not notice that (1) if you are actively using our server listing, (2) verified by us as a safe community, and (3) non-commercial. You should be able to enable the moderation for free. Just go to your dashboard and check it out!

• Trending now badge: If your server listing page has a lot of unusually high-volume activities, we add a "trending" badge and put you on the front page :). We have a couple roblox communities trending right now.

Things that we are working on:
1. Backup upgrade: We are going to spend next week upgrading our backend infra. This includes adding more disk to handle more traffic and requests. The website will be down for a couple of hours (non-rush hours) sometimes next week.

1. There has been a lot of traffic to our server emoji pages, but the stats don't seem to reflect it. We will investigate this further.

2. We will start improving search on the server listing, starting with emojis, and we will also improve searchability on your server listing page.
   Some subtasks around server listing:

3. better interlinking between your posts and content so that Google understands your domain authority.
4. auto-translation: for announcements and forums, we will translate them into different languages in case someone is searching for them.

I want to make the announcement earlier than usual, given our new updates

• If you are using our Spark premium (15 or 150/month), you can now choose other premium models with a credit system. You will get unlimited gemma 31B as a base, but you can also pick any of the premium options, just go to your agents and select the model.
  Personally, I would pick 3.5 flash for premium and 3.1 pro for the enterprise version.

• You can now run /stats and /server-stats to see server and member analytics. This is V1 of our new analytics. It will get prettier over time, but this is a good starting point.

BTW, the most important KPI for your community is messages per member; it represents how engaged your server is and is the foundation of everything. You can expect to find engagement quality data for free.

This also means that we will stop supporting the analytics dashboard for the free server starting next week. There's nothing you need to do. You can view most of the data directly on Discord. If you think we missed something, just send us a message on Discord, and we will add it later.

• More on feature consolidation, we are also going to gate all the custom quests and custom configuration for Spark. We are likely to grandfather in the changes you have now, but you won't be able to make any other changes for 2 weeks. In addition, we will stop providing free Twitter alerts. There is no impact on any premium plan.

• That being said, here are a couple more changes that will benefit everyone:

• We are restructuring the emoji page to make it faster. We've seen roughly a 20-50% daily increase in website/server visits since last week. We will track which emojis got the most views and attribute it back to your server in some ways. Helping you grow the right way is very important.

• For moderation, we are making a v2 push that gives you more granular control over which actions correspond to which offenses.

For monetized and commercial servers, that means you represent a brand or some org that has revenue, moderation is included in our enterprise tier.

However, if you are using our server listing and are a verified server (that's more social-driven), we will start sending more invites and enable the feature for free if you want.

2. We are reworking our analytics this week. Part of our goal is to make analytics more accessible, so we are moving all the free analytics and a bit more to Discord. On the other hand, we will stop supporting the analytics web dashboard for all free users; Premium customers will be able to see all analytics on the web and in PDF.

3. Our internal plan is to continue to work on adding premium AI models for Spark after the analytics push.

4. Finally, we are rolling out a major revamp for emojis to help drive more traffic to your community. The core idea is to create a high-quality, dedicated page for each emoji in your server. These pages will detail the history and primary use cases of the emoji, alongside recommendations for others with similar styles and colors. Most importantly, these pages will prominently showcase your server's other emojis. For communities that invest time in curating unique collections, this update will give visitors a clear sense of your server's aesthetic and help organically drive more traffic your way.
