I wanted to build a team around mega banette since it's my favorite mega so I will not remove it. I went for tailroom. The goal here is to make banette a mix of a disruptive support and also a sweeper under either trick room or tailwind depending on the matchup.
Farigiraf was the first thing I thought of when thinking trick room because it's just so useful with armor tail. There isn't much thought behind it so I don't know if it can have good synergy with banette.
I added talonflame as the tailwind setter because of gale wings
Mega mawile would be here as a secondary mega, that way I won't give up banette as my only mega slot.
I don't know what to change or add next, I suffer alot from common dark types like incineroar or farigiraf, which mega banette literally cannot hit in any way.

I think will-o-wisp/thunderwave, with painsplit would be better for banette

You could use whimsicott for your tailwind setter
so you get prankster encore
and can use prankster disable afterwards on banettw
since banette is slower encore will go first, disable right afterwards
I'm not a big fan of mega mawile here
since you need to mega evolve it to have any impact of the game, but so does banette
find a pokémon that works in both mega and no mega form, that also covers some of banette weaknesses
my 3 favourite Pokémon for a "I work in both mega & no mega" pokémon are kangashkan, gyarados, and ttar
im pretty sure that there are more, but those are my favourites, to fulfill such a role
painsplit would be useless for banette considering its terrible bulk, I could swap scary face for will-o-wisp tho but scary face allows me to place my own pokemon under trick room comfortably or slow other mons under tailwind

yeah but this was in 2015 and by wolfey out of all people I don't think it'll be usefull for banette to regain its health when it can die so easily, that's gonna be even worse because I won't be able to secure a destiny bond as easily too

thats true, but we can cover that with the rest of our team

im thinking kingambit would be a nice addition
it works in both tr and tailwind, with 75 speed
stab + low kick coverage covers alot of our current weaknesses and we have defiant, so the opponent is less likely to bring their intimidate pokémon, so banettes atk stays powerful
to help farigiraf setting trickroom up we could use either fakeout or follow me user, I'm thinking maybe mega blastoise fake out waterspout? if you like to you can add raindance or helping hand on giraf
