Summary
This announcement in the Pokémon Champions | VGC Battles & Tournaments server explores the viability of a Mega Camerupt Trick Room team. The discussion covers common challenges like handling Kingambit, optimizing EV spreads, and potential roster swaps including Cofagrigus and Sylveon. It serves as a valuable resource for players looking to refine their competitive VGC team building and strategy.
Howdy! I’m here to ask if my trick room, mega camerupt team is too ambitious, and maybe some help with some weak points that I can get some help on!
Firstly I 9/10 start off with Farigiraf and Incineroar to set up -1 (Yknow the usual!) use fakeout and Attempt to set up trick room, and if I do set up trick room, parting shot with incineroar and switch in Camerupt, but I feel like I’m having some issues when it comes being able to contend and when I’m down with Farigiraf I feel like I’m clawing my way back into a losing battle
Usually I bring
1/2: Incineroar, Farigiraf
And in the back is either Snorlax or Camerupt, and Sinistcha
My Main issues:
-
Losing Farigiraf turn one to Kotow Cleave (I know Kingambit runs rampant and that’s something I’m going to have to learn to face it, and I don’t want to complain about meta cause I’m just doing this to have fun!)
-
possible Pokemon EV’s, am I spreading them too thin? Should I just focus on two things and not try to account for every possible scenario?
-
Primarina. I love Primarina, but I don’t get any times where it would be good to bring her, since I’m using her more as a support, I was thinking about switching him out for Grimmsnarl since it has prankster I believe
If you guys have any better ideas or team tweaks I will listen with open ears!

sylveon would be awesome here haha
Cofragigus is an an amazing tr setter it also has great recovery options!
Ive been screaming that coffin needs more love for ages
Cofragigus and Sylveon are noted and I will make adjustments with them and I’ll rework my Primarina and set him up to be more offensive! Who do you guys think gets the boot and who stays?
Yeah the hex set is good. You can run a hard wall set with calm mind giga drain too if you want to set tr start setting up heal and reset tr makes coff super hard to remove.
Then he has sky high defences on both sides
And he gets body press for a good fighting damage move.
I find with the set up set once you get 1 or 2 calm minds off and heal the opponent realises its never going to die and just forfeits 😂
That is incredibly evil 😭
But that sounds like too much fun to not possibly take advantage of
I also feel dumb for passing up on Cofagrigus now cause I kept thinking of taking him but TOTALLY forgot it learned trick room
Taking a four year break made me forget nearly errything
It COULD happen, I just need to figure out who to swap out for Cofragigus, and Sylveon
I was actually thinking of doing Farigiraf and Sinistcha, only thing Sinistcha has done is rage powder and life dew, it hasn’t been able to set up trick room like I had hoped
Though Primarina probably would be better to remove
He learns ancient power I believe?
I was thinking the same thing, especially after my last game I missed rock slide on both mons, TWICE
Yeah, an I know it takes one miss to completely change the way a game goes too
I think Farigiraf will most likely get the boot, because it’s ability is nice but losing it round one is too big of a risk
Yeah Cofragigus in place of Farigiraf, I’ll probably invest into max bulk and hp
Now all I need is Cofragrigus 💔
Will do!

I opted for mental herb since I didn’t want to be tied down by taunt users

I DIDN’T MEAN TO HAVE BOTH

I think it can have a high ceiling
One last thing, do I opt for high horsepower and take the 5% chance that I miss, or do I put earthquake
I considered it, but taunt just loomed over me like a belly drum’d snorlax
My only weakness could be rain teams
Atp who isn’t weak to rain teams though
Solar beam and trailblaze
Yeah, I can get rid of archaludon and swampert fairly comfortably
It’s that Damn BIRD

In TR the order would probably go
Camerupt —> Pelipper —> Sylveon (if I don’t QA) —> Archaludon
And pray to God it does
Which is why Phillip’s there
Might give phillip thunderbolt instead of Belly drum to counter pelliper and then invest in bulk
Atk and HP and let him live two rounds
This is what I’ve opted in for

Supercell slam yeah
If it fails or misses I lose like half my hp though 💔
Oh wait I could use wild charge
I could run a coaching sneasler, only thing holding me off on it is the fact that it’s just very very fast
I think Incin would have a higher purpose on this team
I can share the code for the team if you’d like
I can confirm, Max HP Max Atk incin will survive a crit earthquake from excadril
And it CAN INFACT BEAT RAIN TEAMS
No worries! Hope it was a pleasant flight!!
NURB3RBL66
Went on seven then lost to bs crit
Damn fr? 😭
I played 3 rain teams btb
What’s your most common 4?
I usually lead cofra and incin
Int pressure plus fake out pressure usually makes them focus it instead of cofra
