Kleavor & Charizard VGC Team Guide | Pokémon Champions

Summary

At Pokémon Champions | VGC Battles & Tournaments, we analyze a unique team featuring Kleavor, Charizard Y, and Garchomp. This guide provides essential feedback on optimizing held items, nature spreads, and tactical play for Rillaboom and Milotic. Members discuss how to balance weather synergy and maximize burst damage to improve competitive performance in the current VGC meta.

I found Kleavor to be a fun tailwind option that can take out threats like volcarona and Charizard with a good balanced typing. Rillaboom helps into its weaknesses and lets it get some tempo with fake out. Garch Z pairs decently well as a special offensive threat and with the stealth rocks up, it can get kills easier. It also kills indeedee f and chips farig down to a koable range for garch z to finish. Incineroar helps against threats such as mega golis and just generally synergises with the team. Milotic gives an intimidate counter for threats like salamence and utility with life dew. Water coverage also helps the team. CharY gives nice weather support and burst damage outside of garch z in bad matchups with things like golis and fros. Am open to changes

I’d keep the six and fix the unfinished sets first. Milotic has no item in the screenshot; Leftovers fits Scald / Icy Wind / Life Dew / Protect and isn’t taken elsewhere. Rillaboom also has a neutral nature—Adamant makes sense for that 32 Attack investment unless you need a specific Speed benchmark.

Charizard is the bigger decision: it has 32 HP / 2 Def / 32 Speed and no Sp. Atk investment. That can be deliberate, but if its job is immediate burst damage, I’d test moving some bulk into Sp. Atk before changing a Pokémon. Your sun also weakens Milotic’s Scald, so those two are not always your best attacking pair.

With Kleavor, don’t feel obliged to click Tailwind turn one. Stone Axe pressure beside Fake Out can be better when you already move first; Tailwind matters when it lets Garchomp or Charizard attack before a specific threat. Stealth Rock only damages switch-ins, so avoid counting that chip against the opponent’s starting lead. Those are the first things I’d test before rebuilding.

Aight thx, I think that burst damage is better on Charizard and I'm aiming for a bit more offense on rilla because kleavor has a lot of meta threats that rillaboom can semi handle. I see your point on milotic and Charizard, so imma look at positioning with it. I meant to use leftovers but forgot to add it. I'm not really aiming for too much offense on kleavor, but I can get kills on max bulk indeedee using x scissor. Incin and rilla is a good combo, I put Charizzard for the weather override.

snowypanther-61 OP

Also I think draco meteor is better here so imma use it

snowypanther-61 OP

Burst damage and all

snowybreeze-36

Imo you can drop the Protect for Kleavor and put a coverage move

snowypanther-61 OP

Kleavor & Charizard VGC Team Guide | Pokémon Champions

@snowybreeze-36 Imo you can drop the Protect for Kleavor and put a coverage move
snowypanther-61 OP

Tbh I don't want him to just get blitzed by a spread move and a priority, such as fake out and heat wave

snowypanther-61 OP

Also I don't see any worthwhile coverage

snowypanther-61 OP

The team has enough to cover his weaknesses

@snowypanther-61 Also I don't see any worthwhile coverage
snowybreeze-36

Night Slash could be an option

snowypanther-61 OP

I have incin for that and I already handle indeedee better with x scissor

snowypanther-61 OP

I'm not bulky or fast enough to make CC valid coverage

snowypanther-61 OP

And I dont get stab from it

snowypanther-61 OP

Im not fast enough for feint

snowybreeze-36

tbf your damage output with Kleavor is already limited by the low amount of points it has

@snowypanther-61 Im not fast enough for feint
snowybreeze-36

Feint has priority?

snowypanther-61 OP

Wait I forgot it's priority nvm

@snowybreeze-36 tbf your damage output with Kleavor is already limited by the low amount of points it has
snowypanther-61 OP

Kos max bulk indeedee

snowypanther-61 OP

Kos char y and max bulk volca with grassy seed

snowypanther-61 OP

I agree with ur point on staying power but by attacking it supports the team, primarily with stone axe

snowypanther-61 OP

I don't really need too much offense on it to get kills, and the spread+priority issue is there

@snowypanther-61 Kos char y and max bulk volca with grassy seed
snowybreeze-36

But has no guaranteed kill on rilla and also fails to ko farigiraf

snowybreeze-36

I get your point, but I would personally put a bit more than just 4

@snowybreeze-36 But has no guaranteed kill on rilla and also fails to ko farigiraf
snowypanther-61 OP

I don't really need to ko farig

snowypanther-61 OP

If I can 2hko then I ko with another mom in a double up/spread damage

snowypanther-61 OP

And I have good counters for rilla

snowybreeze-36

Have you already tried a few games?

snowypanther-61 OP

I need to transfer a kleavor, then imma try this out

snowypanther-61 OP

I'm really jus in a calcing phase

snowybreeze-36

Fairs

snowypanther-61 OP

👌

snowypanther-61 OP

Yo

snowypanther-61 OP
snowypanther-61 OP

Anyone who's online jus wanna make some tweaks based on y'all's evaluation

snowypanther-61 OP

I'm thinking of bringing empoleon

snowypanther-61 OP

Same role as Milo with better typing defensively

wildmirror-28

I’ve had a lot of discussions with friends about empoleon

wildmirror-28

We’ve all thought about it

wildmirror-28

But is has zero real water type moves

wildmirror-28

So we ultimately never end up picking it up

wildmirror-28

Give my boy scald back

snowypanther-61 OP

True

snowypanther-61 OP

But it resists more

snowypanther-61 OP

And most importantly I resist fairy

snowypanther-61 OP

And have a way to handle them stab wise

snowypanther-61 OP

Nvm I thought it got life dew

snowypanther-61 OP

Too offensive for my liking
