Summary
At Pokémon Champions | VGC Battles & Tournaments, community members collaborate to refine competitive teams. This discussion covers essential VGC topics like optimizing stat spreads, selecting held items, and developing game plans against weather-based teams. It serves as a valuable resource for newer players looking to improve their reliability and performance in Masterball tier battles.
This is a team i built myself. Please let me know if i should adjust anything or replace anything. The team might be bad cause im new… im also aware the stat spreads are not good, i didnt pay much attention to it and it kind of confuses me.
Also, i later changed Corv’s stat from max atk to max def, and dragonite’s max sp atk to max atk.

I am also pretty new but got to Masterball last season. What I can tell u:
1. Use Megas: rn u have Gengar and Dragonite without there megas and esp. Dragonite with the lum berry... just use mega stone :)
- WHat do u want to achieve? Tailwind set up body press with corv semse decent but then what? For example what would u do against swampert in Rain?
Could u maybe tell me a bit more what your Idea was? Like what is your game plan, which pokemon would u like to use etc.
My first clear change would be switching lum berry for mega stone and maybe switch tauros and Gengar out for something against weather teams? They seem a bit out of place to me.
Omg thanks so much
i already changed tauros to incineroar
Yep im planning on giving dragonite a mega stone. Mega dragonite is sp atk focused, right?
I changed corv completely…no iron defense and body press anymore, they run roost and iron head now and i took away their def stat and invested in speed instead
Corv is kinda slow so i need the speed for an early tailwind
Im not sure…i just started and dont have much knowledge. My current goal is to build a team thats easy enough to use while also reliable enough to battle with good teams
Im not sure if i have a game plan 😭 i usually lead with corv + incin and i do what i feel is best afterwards
What pokemon i like to use? Any, really.

These are all the pokemon i have atm (dont worry about the trial pokemon, i can always permanently recruit them)

for me an easy start is choosing 1 mega and then build a team around that. For the start a good idea is to not focus on trickroom but rather use tail wind. I like Whimsy for that very much but Aerodactyl is good as well. Corv is a bit to slow for my taste
Slaping incen on there is usually not a bad Idea so if u now choose a mega u have 3 pokemon. The last should prob. focus on damage to if u use incen as support (King gambit f.e.). The last 2 slots should be a different mode. Ask yourself: What does my team struggle against rn? Then choose either a second mega or 2 very strong attackers
For me the easiest mega to start with was charizard Y because it is also considered one of the best megas rn. Others like Raichu Y or Froslass can work but need good teambuilding around them
i dont have charizard at the moment
i have raichu mega Y
I can buy froslass mega stone if i need to
what would be ur recommendation?
I just started so i cant build a 2 reliable modes on one team
Start with Raichu Y and get Incen+ Corv on the team. Make Incen and Corv bulky with Incen Fake out parting shot protect + an Attack and Corv with tailwind iron defense body press and another attack. Raichu Y gets protect zap cannon focus Blast + Fake out or another attack or vilt switch. Last would be garchomp with raindance rock slide earthquake and Dragon claw.
For the other mode maybe try it Dragonite + Archaludon and bring garchomp with them to set up the rain for Archaludon
For the future, try to get Charizard Y, alolan Ninetales for froslass and girafarig if u wanna play trickroom with torkol
Does this make any sense?
Yess tysm
What items, nature and stat spread would they use?
sorry if im asking too much 😅
Nah no Problem!
Items: Corv leftovers
Incen citrus
Raichu mega
Garchomp live orb
Archaludon idk..
Dragonite mega
Stats:
Corv Bulky (max def max HP Rest in spec. Def)
Incen Bulky (max HP Rest in Def and SPD)
Raichu Speedy (SpA, Speed)
Garchomp (ATK, Speed)
Archaludon (good spread)
Dragonite (good SpA,some bulk)
But u might need to adjust this
Tbh Is dont know if the team is any good but I would start with this due to the limited pokemon pool u have
I just got sneasler, should i use them?
Also shouldnt i use talonflame rather than corviknight? People say talonflame is a better tailwind setter
I dont think rn but it is a very nice pokemon
Try Bulky Corv with Incen Fake out. If it doesnt work u can switch to talonflame
Okay thanks
And start with Incen Corv or Archaludon+ garchomp
Why not gar+meg dragonite!
I mean that to but with gar being faster then arch, u can set up rain turn 1 and get a surprise KO with Archaludon with electro shot (or what ever the signature move is called)
Does electro shot have no charge if rain is up?
yes
Like this?

I swapped corv for talon btw
your only rain setter is garchomp
which is supposed to be ur offensive mon
I know that it is not optimal but they dont have a real rain setter
Tell me how it goes!
Its working fine!
I would say it could be better, but with the pokemon i have, that should do for now.
Thanks alot!

That looks like a very nice rain team!
yeah nothing to say... nice rain team XD
Thanks alot!
I swapped the dragonite for mega venusaur and meowstic for grimmsnarl.
Are there any better pokemon to relplace now?
Dont think so :)
This is my final team!

Is it good?
The pokemon look very good! Just some thoughts:
Pelli could run damped rock (make rain last 8 turns) and Idk if Pelli needs raindance
Venusaur could run energy ball
If you want a second mon, you could swap Grimsnarl for sableye. But Raindance on Peli is really a wasted slot. Wideguard/Protect is way better
This was the Team I ran to MB for Inspiration.

Peli kinda needs rain dance imo for weather wars
Charizard Y drought is annoying
Thats a good team, i was wondering if i should use sinistcha
I prefer giga drain to restore HP…idk whats more ideal though, ill change to energy ball if necessary

I almost never bring sneasler
I could probably change it for basculegion or sinistcha
if you want a Raindance set, i'd go for sableye. it can set rain after the megaevolution but before charizard attacks, Peli rain dance eats at least one drought turn attack. Or you go parting shot grimsnarl, to switch in Peli in the same prio as sableye rain dance can happen.
I usually rain dance the moment i see normal charizard
It usually works
Mega->drought->rain dance
On the same turn
Its not ideal but it works ig
Second strategy probably better
I dont have sableye rn tho
I also want to replace sneasler
I never bring him
Mega -> drought -> charizard attack -> Peli Raindance. Charizard is in a higher speed tier. but now i'm second guessing
Oh yeahh
My bad srry
I forgot
Any replacements for sneasler?
so if you have parting shot on grimm it is:
Mega -> drought -> parting shot -> peli drizzle -> charizard attack
Why would you replace it? it has Fake out pressure and threatens Faerie types and anything with fighting weakness.
But i have taunt 💔
I kinda never bring it but alright
I guess ill change it for parting shot
I kinda need taunt against non-farigiraf trick room setters tho
