Mega Staraptor + Raichu-Y Team Tweaks

Summary

In Pokémon Champions | VGC Battles & Tournaments this announcement requests feedback on a Mega Staraptor team paired with Raichu-Y. Suggested changes include Brave Bird over Aerial Ace, Roost over Blaze Kick, giving Whimsicott Tailwind while keeping Charm and Fake Tears, and running Fake Out on Raichu to preserve tempo and protect Staraptor. The post seeks tweaks to improve matchups and survivability.

I'm woring on a mega staraptor based team with the second mega being raichu y, I have run it through simulations and found out the only mon that poses a threat is another raichu y to the straptor as with whimsi using fake tears on star it still doesn't survive a base zap cannon, I've been looking for better mons for this team and this is the final result, any pointers on how i can tweak this?

Here are the main changes I’d make:

  1. Aerial Ace on Staraptor should be Brave Bird.
Aerial Ace is reliable, but it is too weak for something that is meant to be the main Mega and win condition. Staraptor needs the stronger Flying STAB.
  2. Roost makes more sense than Blaze Kick on Staraptor.
Close Combat already covers a lot of the things Blaze Kick would hit, and Roost helps Staraptor stay around after it starts getting Contrary boosts.
  3. Whimsicott needs Tailwind.
The team is built around letting Staraptor pressure the board, so speed control is too important to skip.
  4. Keep Charm and Fake Tears on Whimsicott.
They are actually really good with Contrary Staraptor. Charm becomes an Attack boost, and Fake Tears becomes a Sp. Def boost.
  5. Raichu should run Fake Out over Surf.
Surf is awkward because it hits your own side. Fake Out gives much cleaner setup turns for Tailwind, Staraptor boosts, or safe attacks.
  6. Raichu should stay fast and offensive.
Its job is to pressure things, protect Staraptor from Electric moves, and create tempo. I would not make it too defensive.
  7. Azumarill should run Aqua Jet over Superpower.
The team already has Close Combat from Staraptor, so Superpower feels extra. Aqua Jet gives useful priority and helps clean up weakened targets.
  8. Azumarill’s bulk should go into HP first.
Max HP and Attack makes more sense than heavy Sp. Def investment. It gives Azumarill better all-around bulk.
  9. Sinistcha should run Protect over Giga Drain.
Matcha Gotcha already gives it a Grass attack. Protect is more important because Sinistcha gets targeted a lot once it starts redirecting.
  10. Strength Sap is better than Life Dew on Sinistcha.
Strength Sap gives better value into physical attackers and helps Sinistcha stay alive while weakening threats like Staraptor, Garchomp, Sneasler, and Mawile.
