M-Delphox VGC Team Guide: Strategy & Weather Counters

Resumo

In the Pokémon Champions | VGC Battles & Tournaments server, a member shares a unique M-Delphox and Garchomp spread damage team. The discussion covers tactical challenges against sand and rain teams, the utility of Farigiraf, and potential adjustments like adding Altaria for Cloud Nine. This post is a great resource for players looking to refine their competitive VGC builds and troubleshoot common meta matchups.

The initial concept of the team centered around being about to use Garchomp's Earthquake to handle common threats to Delphox like Kingambit with pivoting help from Eject Button Steelix to essentially act as a spare protect button for stalling modes like Trick Room with Wide Guard support.

The team actually had a lot of initial success but the hype has died and I think I might unironically be sitting at a sub-20% winrate this past week.

My thoughts after using the team was that Sand, if led wrong, felt like an unbeatable matchup. Rain felt that same way as well so I'm wondering if I should consider adding in Altaria in place of Whimsicott for Cloud Nine since the weather matchups have been awful for me.

The lack of Trick Room for Roar on Farigiraf is intentional to play vs. opposing Trick Room setters and also disrupt the tempo of Espathra/Raichu X core as well as removing defensive boosts from Archaludon and Staraptors.

If anyone has any suggestions/roasts for the team, I would really love to read it. Many thanks.

I did also have a variation using Discharge Eelektross with Tailwind support because I thought it was cool but I found it hard to get both Tailwind and Garchomp onto the field properly so I gave up on the idea really quickly.

Altaria isn’t gonna solve your problem, ice beam from swift swim basc will kill it instantly

warmbeacon-46

Sleep Powder venusaur is also a huge problem, you could consider raichu X over raichu Y but idk

warmbeacon-46

You could also consider scarfed garchomp over life orb

Swift swim won't activate with Altaria on the field. Max speed Altaria outspeeds by 2.

That being said, Altaria provides no solutions after it inevitably goes down the first turn it is on the field while providing no real support.

Steelix is awful here. Like full stop nothing good about Steelix. It is an entirely wasted slot. If you want to run balance, run a more rounded team, don't put a sponge in that will inevitably fail to provide anything useful to the match

So what would you recommend? Would Araquanid be better for Wide Guard support?

Do you think a Yache Berry is too specific? I do feel like it would give me favorable odds into the weather matchup and if this feels like the only thing I have to account for, would it not be enough to justify its place?
