So im currently trying to gwt my computer to run a bit better and smoother. Currently im redownloading and updating my current version of windows and tbh if this dont work im 99% ready to just wipe the whole computer clean and re-download what I acually need
was told to ping you lol im trying danm it
There are several things that can be done to decrease the load on your processor. Let me try and gather a quick list and then I can expand.
Disable unnecessary startup programs. Open Task Manager → Startup apps and disable programs you don’t need running every time the laptop boots. Things like game launchers, Adobe helpers, Teams, Spotify, manufacturer utilities, and update assistants can pile up quickly.
Check what is using the computer’s resources. In Task Manager → Processes, look at the CPU, Memory, and Disk columns. If one program is constantly using 80–100% of something, that can tell us exactly where the slowdown is coming from.
Free up storage space. Try to keep at least 15–20% of the drive empty. Go to Settings → System → Storage and use Temporary Files/Storage Sense to remove junk. Downloads and old game installations are often major offenders.
Uninstall programs you no longer use. Many laptops accumulate manufacturer software, trials, game launchers, utilities, and background programs that aren't really needed.
Reduce background applications. Discord, Steam, Epic, Xbox, OneDrive, browser extensions, RGB software, peripheral software, and similar programs can consume a surprising amount of RAM and CPU when they're all running together.
Clean up the browser. If the laptop feels slow mainly while browsing, remove unnecessary Chrome/Edge extensions and close unused tabs. Browsers can easily consume several gigabytes of RAM.
Update Windows and your drivers. Install Windows updates and update important drivers, particularly graphics, chipset, Wi-Fi, and storage drivers. I would normally get graphics drivers directly from NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel rather than relying on random driver-update programs.
Run a malware scan. Windows Security's Full Scan is a good starting point. I would avoid installing multiple antivirus programs because they can actually make the computer slower.
Adjust Windows visual effects. Search Windows for "Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows." You can disable animations, shadows, fades, and some other visual effects. This is particularly useful on older laptops.
Check the power mode. Go to Settings → System → Power & battery and make sure the laptop isn't stuck in a battery-saving mode when plugged in. Using Best Performance while connected to power can noticeably improve some systems.
You can also run a disk defragment. Especially after reinstalling windows. There will be duplicate files that will just take up space.
Ill work on this list tomarrow
How do I do this???
To defrag Windows 11, click Start, search for and open Defragment and Optimize Drives. Select the drive you want to fix (like your C: drive), and click Optimize.
Are you available tomarrow at all if I need assistance? Completely okay if not im off tomarrow and sawyer has work so imm be useing the day to try to fix my pos computer
I will be available.
Cool beans thanks I'll let ya know if I get stumped by anything

I think I did it all? There are a few processes that im not exsactly sure what they are in the task manager like i have a bunch of stuff labeled "service host" with a discretion behind it
A VERY vague description
You could run a Debloat as well, this uninstalls the rubbish Microsoft installs by default, usually stuff that just isnt needed and takes up power I can go through some stuff with you on a Quick assist if you would like (Quick Assist is Microsoft's Support tool built into windows and basically I can take control and do the bits and pieces for you or walk you through it.)
Please do not take this the wrong way but I do not know you very well ((we've had maybe 2 convos)) so im quite weary of letting you have remote access to my computer
I understand that and I would be as well, my pc is my main thing I do. I think maybe it came across wrong and if so its my bad, its normal for me to offer help like that as my normal group need it a lot. The tool I suggested is still pretty good but again I understand if you don't trust it, feel free to research it if you need 🙂
Again I dont mean it in a bad way haha I promise and ill deffintily try that cuz I know Microsoft has a shit ton of stuff downl9aded that I dont even use
I am not offended in any way haha like I said I get it, but sorry if it came across in any way it was just a offer for a helping hand, something I normally do, you're fine if you don't want the help 😄
Someone tell me if these are important or not
Thats it I've had it with tjis POS im factory resetting this bitch
