Trying to make this gorgeous team happen in Champions ladder. Been tweaking it a lot. Used to have Lycanroc instead of Skarmory, running only Chandelure as the Mega, but it was only there to OHKO Zard Ys with Accerock - which was pretty funny, but I noticed I was never using bringing it otherwise.

Been in a losing streak in the MB4 ladder atm lol the team is fun but I would love to make it stronger overall.

I'm up to any suggestions regarding changing Pokémon, moves, abilities or EV spread. I just would like to avoid using any of the meta mons here, as a personal challenge and because I would like not to repeat mons between teams (already have a ZardY/Glimm/Whimsicott/Basculegion/Gambit/Garchomp in my team slots)

Thanks in advance!

Reply

My first non meta pick would be mamoswine bcause its basically garchomp but immune to intimidate, buffed by snow and it still has rock slide/rock tomb

Reply

My second pick would be arcanine hisui who is like lycenrock but just better

Reply

Cleavor and Garnacle are also worth considering but garnacle can't ohko charizard and cleavor is only nuetral against fire

Reply
Reply

Skarm will need protect I assume in a heat wave riddle meta

Reply

He's fastee and one-shots Zard Y with Rock Tomb and taunt is a great counter to trick room, but I definitely miss Protect

Reply

I have one sitting in my box waiting for me to add it to any team, but this one already has two dire types... been thinking on using Dragonite as tailwind setter instead of Talon here, maybe with that I replace someone for Hisui Arc

Reply

Yes, I compell you to use dragonite

Reply

I'm feeling like changing:
Talon to Dragonite (with silk scarf for the Extreme Speed)
Ninetales to Hisui Arc (guess I would need to love Sash to him and put something else on Tsareena)

Thought about Mamoswine but I guess it would need to run Sash which is a problem

Reply

32+ Atk Dragonite Dragon Claw vs. 2 HP / 0 Def Garchomp: 162-192 (87.5 - 103.7%) -- 25% chance to OHKO

Nice

Reply

Maybe would need dragon claw to guarantee that OHKO

Reply

I don't link not having any form of weather control by losing Ninetales tho, but can't have everything

Reply

I also I thought about fitting Primarina in the team somewhere, as I've been seeing her a lot lately

Reply

just in case anyone else is online and would like to chime in

Reply

First problem is skarm wants to be in rain but chandy doesnt

Reply

He doesn't have rain tho?

Reply

Team is looking like this atm: https://pokepast.es/24b3f74be8c9328b

Pondering about replacing Taunt with Protect on Skarmory, but think I would be kinda doomed against TR

Also thought of replacing Protect for Extreme Speed on Arcanine

Reply

That's the point yes

Reply

So then why is it a problem?

Reply

Because you aren't covering the weakness with snow whatsoever

Reply

So I'm lost as to why it's the chosen weather at all

Reply

To defeat other weathers

Reply

I mean, Skarm is not afraid of Charizard and I can run Chandelure instead of Skarmory if I see fire type threats in the other team

Reply

It doesn't defeat your weakness one double up from fire and it's curtains

Reply

Rain makes more sense, is all I am saying

Reply

I think you could replace either head smash or rock slide with extreme speed instead

Reply

Maybe a support with Rain Dance? Or Pelipper as tailwind setter, but not sure if it makes much sense with the rest of the team

Reply

Also thought of putting Skarm with Tyranitar

Reply

Well switching in ninetales can benifit other pokemon like rotom and dragonite even if ninetales is weak to the sun

Reply

Ofc it can. But not as much as swapping in rain?

Reply

But chandelure is bad in the rain

Reply

Ninetales was definitely helpful in some matchups, Ill give him that. Like, very cool switching into Archaludons and having take 2 turns for Eletro Shot

Reply

So you would just be unable to use chandelure + pelipper or politoed even if you wanted to without making chandelure weaker

Reply

Is chandy required? Or there because it's not weak into the things skarm is

Reply

Chandy is there because I like it mostly lol

Reply

Fair enough.

Reply

He was the original Mega in the team, I added Skarm later

Reply

Skarm can work without mega with Sturdy too

Reply

I guess, you're saying you're on a losing streak. What is the team struggling into most?

Reply

M E G A D R A G O N I T E

Reply

Kind of what I was thinking. Drop chandy if he's there other than for personal reasons and let dnite shine here

Reply

But if you like him, we work around

Reply

I just like dragonite tbh

Reply

That doesn't sound bad, but then ill create another thread for a Chandy team lol

Reply

It's a very good mega

Reply

Until salamance comes back, then it will be a lot worse

Reply

We have a ways to go I can hope haha

Reply

By then it'll be strictly scrafty mega and Gengar for me haha

Reply

If I want to remove Skarm and focus on Chandy, what would you guys do instead? Guess I'll work on a Skarm/Dragonite team as I like the idea and haven't built a Rain team yet

Reply

But want to make Chandy work

Reply

I can still use a phys Dragonite for tailwind setter with Chandy and have a SPA for the Mega team

Reply

Oh I need a shiny for the Mega tho, love that blue color

Reply

Draco meteor, thunderbolt, dragon pulse, tailwind. Inner focus bfore mega

Reply

no protect?

Reply

No hurricane?

Reply

Maybe I go with Pelliper for tailwind and Hurricane, Thunderbolt, Draco Meteor/Pulse, Protect on Dragonite?

Reply

If you are running rain then and only then hurricane

Reply

And if you habe another tailwind setter use protect

Reply

Yes yes, will be a skarm/dragonite rain team

Reply

Then chandelure gets weakened tho

Reply

Oh wait you are talking abt a seperate rain team

Reply

I'm separating them. Need to rework a team around Chandy (and maybe another mega) and then another team ir skarm/drago

Reply

I actually have a dragonite team prepared that you can use as reference, although it doesn't have rain

Reply

Oh yes please, all up for inspiration

Reply

ok hear me out... mega greninja instead of Skarmory with Chandy

Reply

I know it's not a great mega with the protean nerf tho

Reply

Will probably do a different thread for the skarm/dragonite team when I cook something there

Reply

Just thinking of other good/fun megas to replace Skarmory in the Chandelure team, or simply going Chandelure as the only Mega and run HisuiArc/Tsareena/Dragonite/Ninetales/Rotom/Chandy

Reply

well

Reply

And about Skarm/Dragonite:
https://pokepast.es/3b70b01e2bf50633

This is looking pretty solid on paper

Reply

mamoswine in rain sounds great to me

Reply

Mamoswine is rly underutilised rn tbh, it hits a lot of the meta for super effective while having a powerful priority attack

Reply

And being immune to intimidate

Reply

Ok I'll be trying this silly Sun team as my next move to try and make Mega Chandelure happen
