Countering Trick Room in VGC Team Setups

Summary

In Pokémon Champions | VGC Battles & Tournaments this announcement discusses dealing with Trick Room disrupting setup. It recommends killing the Trick Room setter before it activates or surviving turns, using fake out users like Incineroar or Sneasler into Basculegion ghost coverage, and bringing Torkoal to punish set up failures. Practical team tweaks and play sequencing are covered.

Unfortunately tr beats tw. Only way out is kill the tr setter before it sets up or survive the turns kill the tr setter then set up

Reply

You can always bring torkoal as well to punish if tr does get set up

What about dis, is it still countered by trick rooms cz i also cant set up with this bcz of trick rooms, or is there a way to play around them

This only delays trick room one turn and sacrifices an item slot. It doesn't stop it

That same fake out can come from sneasler and a ghost or dark type nuke

Reply

if i did what would i have it in for. And how would i set up, my aero & floette. Would i have to run them in the back n ceruledge incin?

Reply

So do i just try to not insta set up and incin & sneasler?

Reply

nah you only need one fake out user. replace liquidation on basculegion to the strongest ghost move he gets and hope you can ohko after the fake out

Reply

only way to not have to stall trick room turns

Reply

Which is what (the ghost type move)

Reply

so i incin basc starting hand?

Reply

i dont know bascs strongest ghost type move off the top of my head as i dont run him

Reply

maybe if he gets poltergeist?

Reply

but you would have to look

Reply

incin or sneasler fake out into basc strongest move and hope they dont read the attack and protect the tr setter

Reply

since trick room always goes last (in theory) you should have two turns to kill it

Reply

It doesnt learn poltergeist so idrk

Reply

well the amount of ghost moves it gets is finite. find the one with the highest base power and make sure there is no requirement for it to be that strong then use that one

Reply

So i need bulky mon? im thinking of adding a umbreon to help stall and try taking down their trick room because its bulky and a dark type to try and kill their trick room user even in trick room. And if not that, then i could use skeledurge so i dont get faked out and i could then use a ghost type nuke to try and get rid of their trick room user
