Summary
The Pokémon Champions | VGC Battles & Tournaments community discusses optimal team compositions featuring Golisopod and Mimikyu. This thread explores effective rain setters like Pelipper and Politoed, while debating the integration of Trick Room and Tailwind modes. It provides valuable insights for players looking to refine their competitive VGC strategies and optimize their team synergy.
I’m new and heard that Golisopod just got a new mega and a viable ability and need help making a team with Golisopod and Mimikyu (my two favorite pokemon). I know it probably needs rain cause of zard but Mimikyu has trick room.
I’m trying to figure out
1. What other Pokemon I should use
2. Which rain setter I should use
Politoed is best here
i dont recall ever equipping the teambuilders role
hm
pelipper, golisopod, mimikyu, grimmsnarl, archaludon, rillaboom perhaps
pelipper: main rain setter with flying coverage
golisopod: ur mega
mimikyu; TR setter, maybe equip mental herb
I prefer poli here coz it can apply better pressure alongside goli
wdym better pressure
it doesn’t have flying coverage and it has less special attack
what asset does poli have that peli doesnt
literally only muddy water and perish song
Icy wind, helping hand, encore
icy wind for what
you’re in trick room
if you want an outside TR mode
no hard tr
pelip has tailwind
The birb cant exactly run hh tho
Weatherball hurricane wideguard
wyu even need hhand for
Is good but not mandatory for this team
^
rain usually has speedsters
if not, then usually mons that arent considered alow
slow*
I would prefer tailroom tbh
Plus for poli it mwans you can run a wacan set for yaichu
Coz you get ep
Highkey...
Do we want double tr setters?
Or no
Im highkey looking at mime
Tru
Idk someone said grimm
So i assumed screens
And it gets wide guard
I like tailroom
I fw
Lwk
I like the slowbro
It might be good if I ran two nodes trick room and tailwind
Hmm I do love trick room spam so arculadon would be better
So I have multiple leads
Does peliper have a switch move?
Hmm so rn I’m feeling
Golisopod Mega just wrecking the other team in trick room
Mimikyu setting up trick room/maybe setting up sd
Peliper rain and wide guard
Arch doing arch things, maybe run body press
I’m not sure what else though
Any thoughts on a secondary mega
Wait how do I set up sunny day?
Oh yea I forgot about that
Ok I’m gonna go into showdown and see what I can do
I pick mega mega in za
NOOO
Ahh it’s ok I rushed shiny pod as soon as mega dimension opened
I named my nium tinker bell I think it would be funny to see it demolish a pod
So thank you but I got it
So what should I do for my sixth month
🤔
Yes
I’m kinda worried about rain getting cleared by a zard
Sableye
I don’t have any fake out support unless peli has it
-
prankster rain dance too
Ok indeedee looks good then
What if the op just doubles mimikyu
Yeah I believe in the Mimi to sweep
I might want some spread since I only have peli with hurricane
Ok I’ll use sneasler 😔
Indeedee setting up tr might just be cool
Like both tr setting mons on the lead n stuff
Sneasler so mean
I like indeedee so I’ll use that instead I do like insurance aginst priority
Great
eyes
I did not have indeedee I had Mimikyu
Aeh-
Anyway I got to drive to school see ya
Bye

This is what I put together
Hmm okay got it
What are the nitpicks?
No no this is good I’ve played in formats where rounds last a long time
That may be true but this isn't one of those
The game will either be over fast or you won't even get use out of it because you'll be caught in weather wars
Indeedee here also doesn't want to be holding leftovers. It is going to be taken out nearly immediately, even with full defensive investment. Best bet is colbur berry to stop the inevitable dark move that OHKOs it without
Archaludon also doesn't need to hold rocky helmet. People purposely avoid hitting it with contact moves because it is weak to special attacks. That should be your leftovers
Rocky helmet also works on indeedee so maybe just swap them
Yeah I’m not good at item placement
Realistically give pelipper sitrus berry
Ok
Fixed it 👍
Oh sorry I said that wrong I meant that your advice was good I needed to change it. I was not sure because before the formats were slower.
lowkey that compo is peak
imagine sun rain mimikyu
Truth
