Summary
This thread in the Pokémon Champions | VGC Battles & Tournaments server focuses on optimizing a competitive VGC team centered around Garganacl. The discussion explores the challenges of balancing Trick Room and Tailwind modes while refining sets for Pokémon like Kingambit, Incineroar, and Dragapult. It serves as a valuable resource for players looking to improve their team synergy and counter common threats like Archaludon in the current meta.
I'm basically a complete novice in vgc and need help building a team. I've thrown some shit together but it kind of sucks. I'm extremely attatched to having garganacl on the team and quite attatched to having both a trick room and a tailwind mode, but the individual mons can change. I struggle a lot with beating archaludon rn.

thoughts on the guys:
Slowbro is one of the guys im considering replacing - havign my mega also be my TR setter has been weird.
Similarly I'm not sure whether I should still have Kingambit, bc I already have incin and then thats 2 dark types
Incin is afaik a fairly standard set? its been good for me
Whimsicott has taunt instead of protect to beat other whimsicotts, otherwise standard
Dragapult has been awkward to use. I'm considering going for something bulkier that cna still take advntage of tailwind
Garg is the one guy Ireally dont want to replace. I am considering getting rid of salt cure tho bc they nerfed it
Tailroom is not an easy thing to pull off
King js good for everyone I think
I’ve been using pult . Being immune to fake out and intimidate takes the risk out stuff
About to change him to adamant tho because he still out speeds sneazler
You are very very against putting protect on your mons as well
Darkest lariat should be swapped for throat chop
Tailroom is more based around what I would call middle speed pokemon
Fast enough for tailwind to help them out speed most threats but still slow enough to benefit from trick room
The 90-100 range is usually best for this type of strategy
I haven't checked this game since I don't use whimsicott, but I believe it used to get trick room as well? Am I wrong?
Should I be running it on everybody?
I know it's good
I believe it still does
Most mons should have protect
Discord sent us an expired image link.
See how many of mine have it?
And if whimsicott has both trick room and tailwind too consider rebuilding around the fact it can do both. Reinvest entirely in bulk
And then redo your Mon lineup focusing on ones between 90-100 speed
