This has been sitting for two days while I was playing with Sceptile/Mawile, but finally started testing and it's strong so far.

I tried rain with regular Stamina Archie last season and found it really boring to play, too slow, very not my style - but Archie is still super good under rain, so I'm trying this Scarf set and it's doing well so far

Sash Poison Touch Sneasler sounded very fun to me so I'm giving it a try. Another good Grass counter besides Pelipper to protect Swampert is nice to have and love how he provides Fake Out and poison support besides strong fighting type coverage. I forgot to change Dire Claw to Poison Jab, but guess I'm doing it to reinforce the poison chance.

Had Taunt over Foul Play but 1. I hate not having at least 1 attack move and 2. Prankster Taunt is useless against Farig, which is the main mon I feel like Taunting. So I still feel weak against TR teams - open to ideas regarding that and anything in general

i’m running a very similar team to this. have you considered sinistcha to operate in TR with healing and redirection support as well as a way to turn off TR?

@warmlizard-79 i’m running a very similar team to this. have you considered sinistcha to operate in TR with healin…
smartinbox-23 OP

That would solve my TR issue!

Sinistcha is pretty amazing. I really like every mon in the team though - hurts to think of replacing any of them. I wish either Sableye could learn TR or Sinistcha could learn Rain Dance lol

warmlizard-79

i took screens off my team and ran a bulkier rain setter(politoed) and put iron defense instead of iron head

warmlizard-79

on metagross

warmlizard-79

made room for sinistcha and put more survivability overall

smartinbox-23 OP

Between screens and healing I definitely don't need both, so I would replace Sableye over Sinistcha

smartinbox-23 OP

Will think more about it, thanks for the suggestion!

warmlizard-79

idk if you’ve tried big root, but big root strength sap can heal sin from like 5 to fill off a physical attacker

smartinbox-23 OP

Woah, I haven't tried big root yet, didn't even buy the item

smartinbox-23 OP

Will look into that

warmlizard-79

unfortunately it doesn’t work with life dew, but still insane for keeping sin alive. Good luck!

happymaple-96

scarf arc?

happymaple-96

it works well?

smartinbox-23 OP

So far so good! Probably probably don't expect it it hitting so hard right away lol

smartinbox-23 OP

And Sturdy works well with it

smartinbox-23 OP

Ok how crazy would be something like this so I can have Rain Dance, Trick Room and healing from the same mon:

Aromatisse @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Healer
Level: 50
EVs: 31 HP / 3 SpA / 32 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Moonblast
- Heal Pulse
- Rain Dance
- Trick Room

smartinbox-23 OP

I'm also thinking on just screwing healing and screens and go aggressive Farigiraf with Rain Dance

smartinbox-23 OP

But I do think it's important thst I have a secondary Rain setter but I also want to have an option against Trick Room

cleverinbox-49

My farig is able to 2 shot most opponents

cleverinbox-49

Ya want that?

smartinbox-23 OP

Yes please! Sounds great

cleverinbox-49

Farigiraf @ Life Orb
Ability: Armor Tail
Level: 50
EVs: 29 HP / 4 Def / 32 SpA / 1 Spe
Modest Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Thunderbolt
- Trick Room
- Protect

cleverinbox-49

If ya want something that is on the bulkier side, ask wahhh

smartinbox-23 OP

Life Orb Hyper Voice goes brrrr

smartinbox-23 OP

Very cool, will try it

quickjester-17

Have you considered toxicroak over sneasler

quickjester-17

I know it's now as fast but it has bulk and heals in the rain

smartinbox-23 OP

Everytime I think of rain I think of Toxicroak, but I always assume it's just a worse Sneasler so I end up running Sneasler

The Sash Poison Touch set is really fun so far

smartinbox-23 OP

Funny enough I just got the gold medal achievement for winning 100 battles with Sneasler

smartinbox-23 OP

It's the goat

smartinbox-23 OP

This team is super strong and consistent so far, the matches I'm losing are super close

smartinbox-23 OP

I will want to try and test other teams though but guess I'll try climbing with this one at some point

smartinbox-23 OP

Not been using Metagross much tho, Swampert is being the primary for sure

@cleverinbox-49 Farigiraf @ Life Orb Ability: Armor Tail Level: 50 EVs: 29 HP / 4 Def / 32 SpA / 1 Spe Modest Natur…
smartinbox-23 OP

She's been great so far btw, I think the damage gets people by surprise. She truly hits hard

smartinbox-23 OP

Came back to this team recently as I think it's the most strong and well rounded team I made this season so far but that last Farig spot still feels clunky. I tried making her bulkier and removing Hyper Voice to add Protect (Thunderbolt is her only attack now) but it still feels weird. It's clunky to have her set Rain Dance while moving after all other mons with the low speed. She was easily ko'ed if opponents doubled down on her turn 1 without the bulk.

I'm now testing Life Orb Mimikyu with Play Rough/Shadow Sneak/Rain Dance/Taunt as my anti-TR + secondary Rain Dance setter.

The extra Fairy and Ghost coverage are also very welcome to the team

Let's see how it goes

happykitten-50

Metagross rain is always cracked haha

smartinbox-23 OP

About Archie: I went to Dragon Pulse after missing Draco twice in a row 😭

Also will probably go with Thunderbolt instead of Electro Shot as it's been twice today that I saw myself in a situation of having Archie without rain in endgame

smartinbox-23 OP

my Archie is Choice Scarf Sturdy though

smartinbox-23 OP

I find the usual set quite boring to play and easily predictable

smartinbox-23 OP

Weather war is very very annoying with Zard Y setting sun simply by mega-evolving and Prankster Tailwind from Whimiscott 💀 Turns 1 and 2 are always an annoying mind game

merrykitten-85
@smartinbox-23 Weather war is very very annoying with Zard Y setting sun simply by mega-evolving and Prankster Tai…
smartinbox-23 OP

This is the main reason why I think it's important to have a manual rain setter in the team btw

smartinbox-23 OP

Coaching Sneasler + Mega Swampert just goes nuts

merrykitten-85

I think the team already has a really strong idea, so I wouldn’t change the Pokémon. I’d just clean up a few sets.

  1. Archaludon’s Scarf set should be more consistent.
I’d run Electro Shot, Thunderbolt, Dragon Pulse, and Flash Cannon. Electro Shot is great when rain is up, but Thunderbolt gives you a real Electric move when rain disappears. I’d drop Snarl and Steel Beam because they feel awkward to lock into.
  2. I’d test Taunt on Sneasler over Dire Claw.
This is probably the cleanest Trick Room fix without changing the team. Sableye can’t reliably Taunt Farigiraf because of Prankster being blocked, but Sneasler’s Taunt still works. You lose Dire Claw cheese, but it helps a lot into Trick Room.
  3. Metagross should probably run Thunder Punch over Body Press.
Body Press doesn’t feel amazing without Iron Defense or a heavier Defense spread. Thunder Punch gives Metagross better pressure into Pelipper, Basculegion, bulky Waters, and rain mirrors.
  4. I’d make Sableye a bit more physically bulky.
Since it already has Light Screen and rain weakens Fire damage, I’d want it to take physical hits better. Its job is mostly to get rain back up and set screens, so surviving those early turns matters more than doing damage.
  5. I’d test Sitrus Berry on Pelipper over Damp Rock.
Damp Rock is nice, but in weather wars, Pelipper staying alive is usually more important than extra rain turns. Sitrus gives it more chances to reset rain, Tailwind, or Wide Guard.

Overall, I’d keep the same team idea: use Pelipper and Sableye to control rain, Sneasler to Fake Out and Coaching, and Mega Swampert as the main win condition. The main fixes are just making the team less awkward when rain disappears or when Trick Room is threatened.

happykitten-50

Thing is it doesn't matter

happykitten-50

Even if it's predictable it's usually just completely safe lmao

happykitten-50

Boring? Hell yeah it is, that's why I don't play rain :P

smartinbox-23 OP

Yep yep, I know it's the better and stronger option, but too boring to play

The rest of the rain team is fun tho, so trying a different approach

smartinbox-23 OP

If only my Swampert stopped missing his High Horsepowers...
