Breakdown of what the team entails, what changes are considered, and how the team feels.
-
Mega Garchomp
Rock Slide and Earthquake get a power boost in sandstorm w/ its ability, Dragon Claw to nail other Garchomps, and Protect for more staying power. Maxed its HP for staying power, put 30 into Attack to hit everything hard, then put the remaining four points into Speed so it out-speeds Scarf Garchomp using Tailwind. -
Sandaconda
Designed to be as annoying as possible to remove, having Bright Powder (considering Passho Berry) as its item, Minimize for late game, Sand Tomb to punish Perish Trap/poor switches, Iron Defense for staying power, and Body Press to use the defense boosts for offensive power. Bulk entirely maxed out to ensure won weather wars and it won’t be removed easily. -
Corviknight
Mirror Armor as an Intimidate deterrent, Tailwind for speed control, Bulk Up to build it up as a threat throughout the battle, Body Press to threaten bulky dark types, and Brave Bird to hit any Grass types wanting to threaten Rotom-Wash or Milotic. -
Rotom-Wash
Fast support with Electroweb and Will-O-Wisp, Thunderbolt to hit any water type for big damage, and Hydro Pump allows it to threaten Sun teams alongside Mega Garchomp. -
Excadrill
Iron Head to nearly guarantee an OHKO on any Fairy Pokemon, Rock Slide for spread damage into Flying and Ice types, Protect to ensure the safety of itself or its Sash, and with three-four ally Pokemon I can safely ignore, Earthquake instead of High Horsepower. -
Milotic
Milotic would be an excellent addition to the team as another Intimidate deterrent. Current stat spread and move pool was taken from a preset from a damage calculator. Scald is okay, same with Icy Wind, but am considering Life Dew over Recover so I can keep my bulky Pokemon with no recovery of their own healthy. Unsure about Ice Beam.
I appreciate and value all advice given to this team. Other than that, have a nice day!
Sandaconda bright powder
I would prefer to not have anything to do with this team
I figure Bright Powder + Minimize would make it an annoying late game Pokemon, even with the absence of Sand Veil
Like I said I was considering Passho over it instead for more consistency
As someone who hates running less than 100% move and rng, bright powder is one of the most bs item in the game. And minimize on top. Is it good and annoying, 100%. Do I support it? I would support a big hairy spider more and I would prefer burning all spiders if I could
See that I can understand entirely
I just figure I would carve out a really annoying niche for Sandaconda outside of just “hit me and I’ll set up sand”
Bright powder minimize conda has been on the ladder for a few weeks now
People pair it with Milo yes but give it psyche up to copy the evasion boosts
Yeah that’s evil
I hadn’t even considered that and now I wished I wasn’t made aware of that
Not so I can use it, I think Milotic fits better as a genuine support not using that cheese
Any other recommendations for the team? Beyond the evil snake?
Sinistcha to keep it healed with hospilatily and life dew
In place of who?
Also would Life Dew instead of Recover on Milotic fit a similar role?

Not sure I follow given Sandaconda is Sand Spit not Sand Veil
Ah yes sandaconda minimize
Built a team for that like day two of champions
So if my first question is where are you setting the weather
My second has to be why bother running minimize but no sand veil
You need all 3
Yeah, after playing a few games it really depends on people thinking it’s Sand Veil Conda for it to get value out of Sand Spit
I’m just not sure if Hippowdon or Tyranitar would be better since I could set my own sand with EQ, despite the fact that I tend to let Conda die before even bringing Mega Chomp down
In sand with veil conda is insanely hard to remove
Go the body press route and it's even vetter
Yeah, though the team isn’t about Conda
It’s supposed to be about Mega Chomp
Tbh I’m about ready to give up. Mega Garchomp doesn’t have enough bulk even when maxing out its HP, the pieces on the team feel awkward without Excadrill, and I’m just far more comfortable with running Mega Tyranitar and Gliscor instead of Mega Garchomp with any sand setter that isn’t immediately threatened by it to OHKO.
I have seen a few mega chomp teams
Readjusted it to have Ttar as the sand setter, Sandaconda and Hippowdon just ain’t it

Team’s better, still stinks
Gets completely messed up by Rotom Wash as I’ve found out
Just wanted to try and give my fav Mega a shot. Knew it was inferior to base Chomp but hey a guy can dream ig.
I’ll prob just go back to my original sand team that I’ve been using all regulation.
Was thinking swapping Incin for Tsareena, old bulky build with either Quick Claw, Occa Berry or Kebia Berry
Or give it Scarf and give Rotom Rindo
Fair
I face palmed when I saw my friend use Quick Claw on his Tsareena knowing he copied my original Scarf Tsareena spread and moves
Then he hit three of them on me consecutively
Contrary to the post I’m not a new player, I just wanna see if Mega Garchomp has potential
If he doesn’t, cool, I have another sand team to fall back on
If he does, I wanna see how it would work, that’s all
