Summary
Pokémon Champions | VGC Battles & Tournaments introduces a new meta breakdown series designed to help players of all skill levels. This resource provides detailed team structures, competitive tips, and showdown replays to assist in climbing the ladder. By focusing on current regulations and effective teambuilding, the community gains access to high-level strategies and actionable insights for their competitive journey.
Hello guys, gamer here. This is my take on a meta breakdown thread. Main focus would be to provide sample pastes and explain all the core structures and meta trends rising in the upcoming regulations, as well as have resources from players starting from beginner up to I guess champion rank, since everyone has more to learn. From tips and tricks to face certain teams or use them, up to teambuilding choices and tips, I'll try to have it all here, broken down to basic information, as much as I can. I'll try to always have pinned the title of the team I will explain each time so you can easily go back. Hopefully this will become an enjoyable journey of knowledge from which all of us will have something to derive.
A bit more about myself before anything. I am no kind of pro player or anything, just an individual who happens to have a few experiences and wants to help people have a resource to their competitive journeys. I started playing competitively not so long ago, almost two years have passed. This will be a shorts of team dump, containing all the teams I see or use with replays as well as the aforementioned stuff. Any suggestions or stuff you want to see added/further broken down, just ping in general
One team at a time always, hopefully to cover the most we can
Team I'll be using during my ladder session on showdown, from which I'll get the replays is posted here with a small breakdown: #channel
Account's on the very top of the showdown ladder, usually sitting at the 1550-1600 range but as you can see has hit higher peaks and rank one for quite a bit of time so hopefully the teams and players I face are indeed the best they can be
I will not break down my team unless you want me to, since I have already attempted to do so in the thread above
If you have any certain questions ask there
About the team always
Mega Charizard Y Tailroom hyper offense (Sun ft. Whimsicott)
The basic team composition for the team is:
Mega Charizard Y -#Yard
Garchomp
**Basculegion
Kingambit ** -#The big two
Farigiraf
Whimsicott/Aerodactyl -#Other rarer tailwind setters
(Filler slot)
Your filler slot in this team tends to be offensive, like gholdengo or some double mega, most of the times being a trick room based one for a submode with farigiraf, like mega mawile or Kangaskan, but I can also see fake out users being helpful, like sneasler for example.
Rarely you can see kingambit over Basc or in filler slot

EVs on the first might be outdated since garchomps are running Lorb, so more offensive faster variations could be given more attention.
Always with moonblast support from whimsicott to beat chomps
Or other partners
I still believe it's worth running bulky in case of choice scarf garchomps and also for the overall bulk, but I can also see fast attacker. If anyone has other optimised EVs feel free to share so I can add them
I'll be back at 20
You’re late lol

Here we go
Whimsicott sets
And there are a lot of viable stuff on this demon
Anti Aero one takes dwb from ada aero
And 2 hits max hp chomp
Second one takes dwb from aero
But it's just the basic shit
Next one takes a spread blizzard from most frosslasses after fake out from sneasler
Still takes dwb
Two hits chomp again and is faster than most wnimsicotts since they are running 3 speed actually from what I'm seeing as you see from next set
Which is probably the best
Staraptor one I don't have evs
Endeavour cheese etc kinda bad
Last one my take on a fun whimsicott set
I see some potential in being able to encore stuff like sableye kingambit and grimmsnarl
Solar beam absolutely nukes every basculegion
And moonblast nukes garchomp with lorb
I think it might be fun to at least give a go
I will not claim it's good though LOL
Next is garchomp
Next is not garchomp actually
https://pokepast.es/6cdca08ce120abbf
It's basc
Goated Mon, one of the big three imo together with sneasler and gambit
(realising he doesn't have farigiraf sets)
https://pokepast.es/0e596468cb945ab6
(he made them giraffe sets)
I stole the last one from because it looks interesting
First one has two hyper voices make that psychic
Alright next because I wanna do other teams asw
Garchomp
I won't only put lorbs in the paste even if that's what you should probably do
Lol

Garchomp sets
This is the core structure of the team complete
Now for the samples

I am going to test these and come back with tips and tricks as well as replays
Most likely running the first
Also these are my quick made samples, great teams need a lot of testing and tweaks so do not expect it to be winning absolutely every game
And go ahead and change anything you want
