Before Holme raised its walls, Nilofar remembered those whom history had already begun to abandon.

She was human.

Mortal.

Neither Aeterni nor immortal, she belonged to the final political generation of old Humanity alongside Hester Nikola Zank and Lu’ulf Chen.

Hester questioned.

Lu’ulf defended.

Nilofar remembered why either act mattered.

When command became detached from consequence, she returned every argument to the lives beneath it: the unnamed laborer, the forgotten soldier, the displaced family, the ordinary citizen reduced to a number within an official record.

She understood that tyranny does not always begin with conquest.

Sometimes it begins when a civilization decides whose suffering deserves to be remembered.

Between Hester’s relentless questions and Lu’ulf’s devotion to duty, Nilofar became their conscience. She did not silence their disagreements. She required those disagreements to answer to the people who would live—or die—beneath their decisions.

Then came the catastrophe of the Doom Falcon.

Hester survived.

Lu’ulf survived.

Nilofar did not.

The surviving archives do not preserve a precise account of her final moments. They preserve only the absence that followed: the silence left behind when Memory’s voice was gone.

Holme had not yet been founded.

Nilofar never walked its streets, stood within its Senate, or witnessed the civilization raised in the ruins of Humanity. Yet the founders carried her into every stone they placed.

Her promise became one of the Six Promises of Holme:

By Nilofar, no life shall be erased from memory.

The woman later created in her likeness was not Nilofar returned from death. She was not a resurrection, replacement, possession, or imitation.

That continuation belongs to another record.

This one belongs to the mortal woman whose loss taught Holme what remembrance must mean.

Nilofar never entered the Eternal City.

The Eternal City entered history carrying her name.
