Summary
This announcement on The Way of Christ explores the theological and personal conflict regarding inviting LGBTQ+ individuals into a Christian community. Members discuss biblical passages like 1 Corinthians 5 to weigh the balance between maintaining church standards and offering a welcoming space to outsiders. It highlights the ongoing dialogue within the server about friendship, evangelism, and navigating diverse perspectives in a faith-based environment.
I found an interfaith community of people and one of their moderators was banned I wanted to invite some here.. but they are mainly LBTGQ.. "Catboys", LBTGQ.. "Fur Babies".. and they all have terms like this in their names and profiles...
Is it wrong for me to invite them here or should I be open minded???
I don't want to invite what is labeled as a corrupted mind/body.. but the Bible also says we shouldn't judge..
I don't know if I should stand by this.. or give everyone a safe place regardless of their sexualities
I personally have LBTGQ friends so it is conflicting for me
I will befriend anyone that tries to be my friend 🙁
Is inviting LBTGQ people here wrong?
Corinthians 5:9–12:
"I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people—not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral... since then you would need to go out of the world. But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of sexual immorality... For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge?"
It isn't wrong to invite them.
Them accepting the invitation shows that they know what they're getting into, and if they feel offended they are free to leave
It's conflicting OLD vs NEW.. so I have never tried to invite LBTGQ people to my churches but you are right it is also said to be right in the Bible
I am conflicted :/
Thanks for responding. I wanted to at least offer them a place even though I know they are against The Way.. they are Trinity/Islam
So I know it will be drama 😂 at least I think
Yes you are right .. it's been something on my conscience since 2007 when a co-worker Derek.. became my friend before I even realized his sexuality and stayed my friend
I should be allowed to make friends with anyone.. we all have had sin in our hearts and it's not easy to bear witness and be cleansed
Thank you both

I am glad everyone is welcome
I an lgbt myself and I ve come across a lot of prosecution
I'm sorry to hear that. It is not for them to judge, as judgement is left to God
Romans 1:26–27: This passage states that God gave people over to dishonorable passions, describing women exchanging natural relations for unnatural ones, and men burning in lust for one another and committing shameless acts.
1 Corinthians 6:9–10: Part of a broader list of vices, this verse warns that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God, using Greek terms like malakoi and arsenokoitai (often translated in English as male prostitutes or sodomites/practicing homosexuals).
You quoted 1 Corinthians 6:9 and 10, but you conveniently stopped reading right before verse 11.
Verse 11 explicitly states: "And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ."
-
The assembly is not a museum for the sinless: Nobody in the 1st-century faith entered the door already perfected. The entire point of the gospel is to call people out of the world and into repentance.
-
Paul explicitly addressed how to treat outsiders: In 1 Corinthians 5:12, Paul asked: "For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? God judges those outside." Demanding that people outside the faith already live according to biblical law before they even hear the gospel completely reverses the New Testament model.
-
Christ's own mission: In Mark 2:17, Jesus answered the religious hypocrites who complained about who he allowed near him: "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."
Inviting someone into a public space to hear scripture and learn the truth is not an endorsement of sin. It is literally fulfilling the Great Commission.
If you lock the door to anyone currently living in worldly sin, you would have to lock yourself outside as well.
That's the reason I held off on inviting them. This happened my first night there and then the Server Owner showed evidence of why he banned the initial person
They were violating almost every Discord ToS rule available
They violated one rule in server the other mod and got banned cuz it was bad
Then they went to another server and plotted raids, tried to dox the owner and violated about every other Discord role imaginable
Invite them, then lock their rooms and throw away the key.
