The Seal Keeper: Marwan and the Red Python
Summary
r/Lebanon shares artwork from The Seal Keeper, depicting Marwan overlooking Mount Lebanon with his unusual pet, amber seal pendant, and scimitar. The story blends a 1973 wedding scene, a mysterious red python, and the guardian of the cedar forest, offering the community a glimpse of Lebanese-inspired fantasy art.
Marwan overlooking Mount Lebanon (from my comic project "The Seal Keeper")
In summer 1973, Marwan is convinced he saw a red python, much to his father’s dismay: "Red snakes don't exist around here!"
At a wedding reception, chaos ensues when Marwan screams, "Snake! Watch out!" yet no one sees it and thinks he lost his mind.
Yet he was never hallucinating: the creature is the pet of Humbaba, guardian of the cedar forest, who entrusts Marwan with a mystical amber seal pendant.
The artwork depicts Marwan later in the story with his unusual pet, his seal pendant and scimitar.
