The FriendZone | Make Friends & Chat ⋅ Active Social Fun ⋅ Chill ⋅ VC server recently hosted a passionate community debate regarding the ethics of abortion. Members explored complex moral perspectives, ranging from bodily autonomy and healthcare rights to the definition of human life. This discussion highlights the diverse viewpoints within our active social community and our commitment to hosting open, albeit intense, conversations on significant societal topics.
This sounds like the bodily autonomy argument now
It’s important to note that nobody has the right to complete bodily autonomy. You don’t have bodily autonomy to the point where you can kill another human, especially when it’s your own child
It applies to parents of born children too
Like parents of born children also give up their body because they have obligations to their children after birth. You obviously wouldn’t accept it if a mother or father said that they refuse to carry their baby in their arms because it is their arms and they get to do what they want with it and babies are parasites for getting carried by their parents
All these arguments come under abortion. It's not just a yes or no question
No one gets to decide whether another human is worthy of human rights or not. Not the parent, not the state, nor anyone
Different things btw. One is inside the body btw so not easy as picking up a child. Again it's a kid who got feelings so that would be considered child neglect
Human rights come from the fact that they are human
Kind of fucked up if your parents get to decide whether you get human rights or not
If I'm in my mom's womb she gets to decide if I can stay or not cause it's her womb. I'd rather be not born than be an unwanted baby
To each their own but you don’t get to decide that for each and every human to ever exist
Not everyone is cool with being killed in the womb just because you are
Personally I am not a fan of being killed
I'm not asking everyone to get an abortion. We someone wants to keep a baby I hope it's going to be a healthy pregnancy. To those who don't want let them be. No one gets abortions for fun it's a complicated procedure
You wouldn't know if you were going to get killed in the womb
No one would know if they're being killed in the womb 😭 holy stupidity
What kind of an argument is that? Incredibly lazy take. I wouldn’t know if I was going to get stabbed in my throat tonight when I sleep. Does that justify it?
Just because you wouldn’t know about your death when it happens, does not mean your death was okay
If can't differentiate between the consequences of aborting a baby and forcing a women to carry a kid then you lack mental growth.
What’s with the insults lol
You'll still feel it
And if I got shot in the head and was dead instantly?
Is that ok lol
Because I didn’t know?
You can’t defend your take so you resort to insults lmao
Aborting a baby is death and a woman carrying a baby to term is not death. When the choice is life or death I will choose life sorry
Riddle me this if a room containing multiple frozen embryos ( that's fetus in beginning of first trimester) and a baby is being burned down and you can only save one, which one would you say ?
You'd still feel it for a fraction of seconds also you had the will to live which makes it worse unlike an unborn fetus
Depends on the scenario and how specific we get
This is just factually wrong and tells me everything I need to know about your understanding of the sciences lol
In this case
death- you wouldn't feel anything, got no will, will not affect anything = bad
Forcing to carry a baby for 9 months or in worse case you got r#ped and is a minor - the mother will face mental health issues, life long trauma, will affect her for the rest of the life = better
Unless you're shot in specific places you will feel pain
That's the situation. Will you save a baby or multiple frozen embryos from a burning room, assuming you could and only could choose one
Ok wait so you keep bringing up this case about r**e of minors but it’s a very small percentage of abortions. If I said that we can legalize abortions in those cases all the time would you be okay with outlawing the other 99% of abortions?
Because if not, you are just using an extremely rare case out of all collective abortions to justify the rest of them where these conditions do not even apply
Agreed
Do you support abortion in those cases ? Cause making abortion illegal includes every abortion no matter how the fetus was conceived
No you can make exceptions in the law for different scenarios. Doesn’t have to be all or nothing
I personally don’t support abortion in any case but since you use this case to justify the 99% of abortions where the same conditions don’t even apply I want to understand your logic then
So you think kids who got r#ped should be forced to carry out the pregnancy
I think all humans have a right to life
So that's a yes ?
I believe in equal rights for all humans yes
So yes, you believe a child who got r#ped should be forced to carry a baby for 9 months and then forced to give birth
Holy cruelty, how do you even support making a child go through that
There are plenty of people who were conceived via r**e I hope you know. That doesn’t mean that they should be killed
It is cruelty to believe the most innocent life to come out of a terrible situation is the one who must pay the final price
Imagine telling someone who was conceived through r**e that they should have been killed 😭 and that they didn’t deserve to be born
That’s way more messed up than someone having to carry a child to term. To kill someone for the actions of their father
You really believe we should kill children because their fathers committed a crime?
