Summary
In the Pokémon Champions | VGC Battles & Tournaments server, members are debating the viability of a Mono-Electric team in the current competitive meta. The discussion covers strategic team compositions featuring Pokémon like Bellibolt, Alolan Raichu, and Rotom-Mow to counter common ground-type threats. This thread highlights the community's collaborative approach to unconventional team building and tactical optimization for VGC play.
Now you might be thinking, who’s dumb enough to run a mono electric pokemon in a meta filled with group type mons, the answer is me.
I don’t know why I’m doing this besides the fact that the majority of the mons are cute but we’ll see how far we can even get with this ridiculous team. Feel free to change almost whatever.

I'd put in someone with the move "soak"

bellibolt
I'd also consider alolan raichu since it's very fast on electric terrain. But that would mean giving up your mega slot to amphoros/eelektross/manectric
Though since you only have electric types, there might not even be a need for a second mega option since it provides no meaningful difference
I like rotom-mow for against ground types, and pawmot in the team.
And electric terrain with pincurchin (or raichu-X) is also great for your team.
Morpeko is decent since it's immune to psy moves
Assuming you use alolan raichu, my team for you would be:
- Bellibolt
- alolan raichu
- rotom-mow/rotom-fan/emolga
- mega-manectric/ampharos
- pincurchin
- pawmot
Now room for morpeko sadly. Or for toxtricity. Unless you want to give up pawmot.
Now assuming you go for raichu-X (because you still want electric terrain):
- Bellibolt
- raichu-X
- rotom-mow/wash/frost
- pawmot
- Jolteon
- morpeko/toxtricity
There has been a version of this with rotom frost and toxtricity in use before
Last variation, this time with raichu-Y:
- Bellibolt
- raichu-Y
- Rotom-mow/wash/frost
- pincurchin
- pawmot
- morpeko/toxtricity
You could also try to make Pikachu work, but since a mono electric team has no good way of making it survive to attack I didn't use it in my proposals
How is it going?
I am so sorry for the no reply I have been incredibly busy coming home at like 2am
Aw, I hoped you had already tested some things.
But get some rest first and tell me how the team you decided on worked out later
I’ve worked around this for a bit but I haven’t been able to pull toxtricity
I actually have and it’s ridiculously good
The team

not mine but
what I made
Sorta
This team got to master ball 2
How do you make use of solar power?
Do you only bring Helios when opponent has torkoal or chariza?
You do have toxtricity in the screenshots though
no no that’s not mine
it’s a friend
Bullseye
Ah. I was a bit confused since you said it wasn't yours but you got to masterball with it. I guessed it was a mono elektro Team someone else made for you and you
but morpecko seems to be replaceable with tox
but tox seems to be a really good and more reliable pokemon
Plus pivot mons in this team doesn’t seem needed at times
They help against different things.
Toxtricity is great against sylveon, salamence, floette, or primarina (anyone who uses hyper voice as main damage source and/or is fairy type), while morpeko can do well against psy spam due to its dark type
But yes, I agree with you, toxtricity should be more useful on average
Yeah but you don’t struggle with psy spam
EV spread on the little dude is slower than Indeedee so if you play your cards right then you have a terrain of your own upon both entry or a later one for turn 2
Regardless you’re doing good in terms of terrain control
It's hard to be slower than the urchin.

I'll say the meta isn't filled with ground type mons.
Most of them only see play on niche teams.
Ground type moves though are a lot.

I wouldn’t say too niche but yeah yu aren’t wrong with your fact however
Exactly
Garchomp and excadrill are the only ground types you would need to worry about. You may find the others once in a while though.
I'll say just get ice type move on someone (maybe rotom) and garchomp is cooked. Excadrill is a bit scarier since sand teams carry extra ground moves. Glimora is also something to watch out for and garchomp Z. But overall all the types that resist/are immune to electric are weak to ground and adding ghost makes every pokemon in the game take at least neutral damage from you.
👌👌👌
Thank you very much for the idea
I do have pawmot with ice punch and in a calc it one shots garchomp and 2 shots it mega
