I'm helping a new player to build a team under these new regulations because he just started in VGC Champions. Any help with viable teams is appreciated
Currently I'm using a Mega Golisopod team Trickrom + Rain

I'm thinking of replacing Grimmsnarl I feel like he lags a bit sometimes maybe I could add fast swin Bascu or give grim the air ballon that way I could use parting shot under psy terrain
Take a look of this one

I really liked the team
I thought you wanted a doubles team
I almost always play VGC, and when you asked me I assumed you wanted to play VGC too
My bad

Ae
To be honest in the lower ranks it's not very useful, but in higher ranks it's quite necessary
Makes sense
this is usually the playstyle in VGC whit some Mons, Mega Lucario and Mega Chomp are somewhat fragile or bad to be the first lead.
Golisopod has been very good for me
You just have to protect it from fire-type attacks
Yep
Rilla is quite strong, to be honest its still not nerfed and its very good at changing positions
Just like in a team like this one https://pokepast.es/c70babb6986c5e82
I'm sure that with a good team you'll reach Master Ball soon
Yeah Master Ball has 3 ranks before becoming Champion
Yes
Mmm Maybe Mega Gardevoir?
Or you could just use Sylveon
2/3 It does quite a lot of damage
Yep
The same thing happend to shedinja and ninjask
Uses of Protect in VGC
- Stall out field conditions
You can stall out Weather, Terrain, Tailwind, Trick Room, Screens, and other temporary effects. - Bait opposing Protects
For example, you can attack one slot while expecting the other Pokémon to Protect, helping you gain information or punish their positioning. - Identify Choice-locked moves
You can Protect to see which move a Choice Scarf/Band/Specs Pokémon locks itself into. - Get information about your opponent’s plan
Protect can reveal what moves your opponent was planning to use and which Pokémon they were targeting. - Reposition safely with Protect + Switch
One Pokémon Protects while its partner switches out, allowing you to improve your positioning without leaving both slots vulnerable. - Protect your win condition
Keep an important Pokémon safe while its partner removes threats, sets up, or creates a winning position. - Block Fake Out or double targets
Protect can waste an opponent’s turn if they commit multiple attacks into one Pokémon. - Scout for Tera/Mega/item strategies
Depending on the format, Protect can give you a turn to identify your opponent’s strategy before committing. - Stall passive damage or recovery
You can gain value from effects such as Leftovers, poison/burn damage on opponents, Leech Seed, etc. - Force awkward decisions
Sometimes simply having Protect available makes your opponent afraid to commit to a double target, giving you more control over the turn.
