TLDR; the twelve were steeped in Judaism, which didn't change after believing that Jesus of Nazareth was the Christ - their Messiah, the Anointed One of Israel - and that He was the Son of God. But they were never told to stop keeping the Law and attending temple worship.
- These disciples of Jesus were commanded to preach the gospel of the kingdom (which keys were given Peter) to none but the 'lost sheep of the house of Israel' [Matt 10:5-6]
- Christ Jesus was sent to fulfill the old covenant promises made to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, which they had been waiting for after 400 years of prophetic silence [Rom 15:8 kjv]
- That was the "apostle's doctrine" which they continued to preach throughout the nation of Israel after Stephen's martyrdom to Jews only, as the OT was the only scripture [Acts 11:19]
- The early church fathers who were followers of the twelve outnumbered those who followed Paul, resulting in Christendom adopting orders, rites and rituals from Judaism [2 Cor 5:16]
