Mega Camerupt Trick Room Team Guide | Pokémon VGC

Summary

The Pokémon Champions | VGC Battles & Tournaments server hosts a deep dive into a competitive Trick Room team featuring Mega Camerupt. This announcement explores team synergy, including the roles of Torkoal, Sylveon, and Farigiraf, while addressing common meta threats like Rain teams and Archaludon. Community members provide strategic feedback on optimizing movesets and team composition to help players improve their competitive performance.

quickjester-17 OP

This team is fun but I'd love to get some feedback.
Camerupt bullies Charizard and several flying mons. Deals with arch and is pretty safe to switch into.
Torkoal is the main Swampert answer and overall weather control. Also hits like a fucking truck and helps Camerupt heatwave hit harder
Sylveon is the garchomp answer mostly but it two taps incin and can yawn to force switches or nuke options as well. Ntm life orb helping hand fucking hurts
32+ SpA Life Orb Pixilate Sylveon Helping Hand Hyper Voice vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Multiscale Dragonite: 175-208 (105.4 - 125.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Farig is the trickroom setter and helping hand to make sure the three big hitters hit harder with spread damage. Ofc also gives protection from prio.
Sinistcha is the least used and shadow ball is now life dew to keep big hitters alive longer making sure torkoal, sylveon, and M. Camerupt lives longer
Staraptor is literally ONLY THERE to either hit final gambit and murder a problem or make them think it's clicking final gambit and then click cc on something like kingambit or brave bird into opposing sini.

Honestly
I know enough about hard TR to say that this looks REALLY solid
However, the matchup into rain looks pretty iffy

happykitten-50

Thunderbolt on Farig would be nice

happykitten-50

Arch kinda looks like a bit of a problem especially if they have screens

ironpixel-34

sparkles is right rain eats you pretty bad but you can play around them pretty well with Tork solarbeam and camerupt can kill arch

Sini can be swapped out with hatt and give her life dew and giga drain for water coverage Ive been playing with a Calm mind/nasty plot Coffragigus hes super hard to take down and its been pretty fun

I reckon last resort Kanga is better then Birb with fakeout pressure and it basically does the same thing as birb

I've seen Mamo going around in some TR teams lately to counter chomps and deal big damage to arch

the lack of a second mega upsets me but its not required ig i just love the ability to change strats based on match up but without one it allows you to really optimise your Camerupt match ups as you clearly have. theres not alot of room for improvement tbh

quickjester-17 OP

Yeah I'm not gonna lie I almost NEVER take sini unless I see raptor or a fighting type and I know sneasler isn't a issue and that's like the main fighting type so hatt could be interesting.
Only reason I won't do last kangas is because I use the birb dying to free switch tork or a big hitter and nuke a problem like peli or swamp

@happykitten-50 Arch kinda looks like a bit of a problem especially if they have screens
quickjester-17 OP

So far the rain vs this match up is like 4-1 only loss was because someone also had rain dance sableye on top of pelipper and was smart with their switches

happykitten-50

hmm fair enough

quickjester-17 OP

I try to be smart. I know the match up into rain is basically determined on who sets the weather. I try and nuke peli with raptor early or ancient power it.

quickjester-17 OP

But I am interested in replacing Sini as it is my current lowest picked mon

quietcomet-33

one thing swap psychic for twin beam as it breaks sash

quietcomet-33

very useful as farig is usually opener

quietcomet-33

if u swap out sini then put hatterene as another tr setter incase oftaunt

quietcomet-33

bc u have magic bounce

quickjester-17 OP

Ahhhh

@quickjester-17 Yeah I'm not gonna lie I almost NEVER take sini unless I see raptor or a fighting type and I know s…
ironpixel-34

I would totally trade sini for a second trickroom user then do you find that you run out of tr turns often? Giga drain hatterene will clear swampert for you and still have all the support sini has including resetting tr if its a long game

ironpixel-34

A better sini set would include life dew and tr

quickjester-17 OP

The current sini has life dew not shadow I just didn't update the ss

quickjester-17 OP

just gotta get my hatt from s/v transfered. As for does trickroom end normally my game is over turn 6 so I get almost all trick room turns go down to them having a pokemon left then cleaning up

quickjester-17 OP

But I do have occasional games a second trickroom user would slap

quickjester-17 OP

What uh...hatt spread/move set do you suggest

quickjester-17 OP

I will be yoinking this but suggestions for replacing life orb as Sylveon already had it

quickjester-17 OP

I'll do giga drain
Dazzling
Protect
Trickroom

merrykitten-85

Try giga over protect not psychic

merrykitten-85

You can ohko shit with psychic

merrykitten-85

Giga is a really cool way to kill swampert

quickjester-17 OP

Mmmmmmm I really want protect it feels wrong

merrykitten-85

Mystic fire more reliable

merrykitten-85

In sun it ohkos all steel types

quickjester-17 OP

Tbf it's only job is murdering Swampert reliably

quickjester-17 OP

And being a second tr setter

merrykitten-85

Through screens it’s a roll I think

quickjester-17 OP

I see

merrykitten-85

Super super fun

merrykitten-85

Tiny bit of chip and it’s dead

merrykitten-85

And they don’t expect it

merrykitten-85

So they don’t protect

quickjester-17 OP

But seriously I would either get rid of psychic or dazzle

quickjester-17 OP

And I already have both coverage

quickjester-17 OP

🌛 I should scare people and run moon blast

quickjester-17 OP

Does it even get it...

merrykitten-85

Nope lol !

merrykitten-85

They nerfed her

Would’ve been to strong I think lol

@merrykitten-85 They nerfed her Would’ve been to strong I think lol
quickjester-17 OP

What about dark pulse for farig

merrykitten-85

Dazzling gleam most likely does the same damage give or take

quickjester-17 OP

Oof that's not that good
32+ SpA Hatterene Giga Drain vs. 32 HP / 0 SpD Swampert-Mega: 180-216 (86.9 - 104.3%) -- 25% chance to OHKO

quickjester-17 OP

No it actually does a decent chunk to farig
32+ SpA Hatterene Dark Pulse vs. 32 HP / 0 SpD Farigiraf: 138-164 (60.7 - 72.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

merrykitten-85

Helping hand dazzling gleam would also be a 2hit ko is all

quickjester-17 OP

Yes it would

merrykitten-85

Farig tends to sit around for a long time clicking that

merrykitten-85

And yeah using mental herb but I think you should use colbur

quickjester-17 OP

Tbf I normally can just helping hand errupt farig

merrykitten-85

Yeah so priority protection + extra damage is enough it seems

merrykitten-85

And tr

merrykitten-85

From farig

quickjester-17 OP

So dazzle or psychic because I really in my brain gotta have protect

merrykitten-85

Needs dazzle more I think

quickjester-17 OP

Bored

quickjester-17 OP

Noted**

merrykitten-85

Trust tho swap it all around and see how you like it yourself

merrykitten-85

I tried dark pulse once because Armarouge walls the team a little bit but it just wasn’t giving enough damage

I like mystic fire because torks sun boost it

And it’s like a surprise attack lol 😂

quickjester-17 OP

While I agree. I wouldn't take her if I see two steel types lol I have cam and tork for that

merrykitten-85

Indeed!

I don’t click psychic to much but when I do the damage is kinda crazy

It can kill neutrals with helping hand

quickjester-17 OP

Welp first game she nuked a Swampert so did her job
