Anti-Meta Heliolisk VGC Team Report | Pokémon Champions

https://pokepast.es/2e8294aa7d5de916
Anti meta helioisk team

1st of all the start Helioisk
Helioisk has a great ability SOLAR POWER
With this ability he can ohko even yards that are trained to survive a rock slide
The spa is the minimum to kill swampert and yard
Speed is enough to outspeed and kill mega aero and scarf bascu (both at max speed jolly) and the moves are:
Thunderbolt: Big damage with stab
Voltswitch: Mandatory in electric choice items users
Electro web: Speed control option and great against sash mon (aero)
Grass Knot: Really good for swampert

Yard
Standard set
With a lot of speed and not many special attack investment

Chomp
Trained to kill other chomps
Max speed so he can be the fastest chomp
Eq so he can pair well with yard

Whim
Max speed timid so she can set up tw first
Encore for people trying to see in which move heli locks in
And moon blast for scarf chomps mainly

Metagross the perfect duo with helio
The main metagross weakness is yard so he combines well with helioisk
Moves are pretty standar but I dropped bullet punch for strompring tantrum cause if I run both steel and psychic only moves I can’t hit the stupid gambits
Enough speed to outspeed max speed adamant raptors and enough attack to ohko them (also he has a pretty good chance to survive gambit moves)

Gambit really standard
Dropped sucker because my team is really weak against fari sylevon
1 point in speed so I outspeed other gambits

Mega Gengar VGC Team Building Guide | Pokémon Champions

I decided I want to revisit my first team in champions being the mega-gengar and kommo-o pairing. Right now, I am restarting from scratch using the duo. Scarf ninetales is here to fix my garchomp matchups even if they are choice scarfed. A few issues i've come along during this process is deciding what gengar's last move should be (taunt slot), whether to keep moonblast on ninetales, and last 3 members to choose from that could enable my mega gengar mode and/or pivot to another strategy (trick room for example) if mega Gengar does not work for the matchup.

Building a Mawile Trick Room Team | VGC Strategy Guide

Theorizing a new trick room team staring Mawile. I’m looking for opinions on a 6th ‘Mon in and any other change recommendations will be welcomed. I really like the core of Mawile, Farig, and Big Man B as he coveres Mawile’s Fire and Ground weakness pretty darn well. I also don’t mine the Fire bros dual of offensive Incin and Torkoal I am obviously adding a lot of ground weaknesses to the team so maybe it’s not the best idea. Thanks for the help in advance.

Building Teams with Mega Barbaracle & Mega Emboar | VGC

Just for shits and giggles, I want to see if I can make a decent team off of the least used megas (based on limitless tcg data. Bottom two this season are apparently... Mega Barbaracle and Mega Emboar. Oh boy.

Right away we have some problems. Both are weak to ground, water, and psychic. Not great types to be weak to all in all. Additionally, they are both in a very awkward speed tier at 75 and 88 speed. Lastly, Emboar can't really hit ground types and Barbaracle can't really hit water types.

This is my solution:

Barbaracle: This guy has one thing going for him and thats tough claws+shell smash. After a shell smash, the only mons in the format he can't ohko reliably are basculegion and M-Venusaur (M-dragonite too but that doesnt count). We can't afford to miss any moves and so, unfortunately, we are dropping our rock attack. Poison Jab/Brick Break/ Liquidation/ Shell Smash. Max Attack, Max HP, and 2 Sp Def. No speed investment because after a ShellSmash we outspeed most anything but scarf chomp and scarf hydreigon. But to set up Shell Smash we need some help.

Emboar: Before we get to the support, lets look at emboar. Our best bet for this lad is probably to run min speed and use TR. 85 speed is still faster then we want to be but it is workable. This decision means we can shove 32 points straight into his DEF to allow us to potentially survive such hits as M-Aero dual wingbeat, talon flame dual wingbeat, and H-Arcanine Head Smash. We can shore up our weakest stat and boost our strongest with bulk up. It also gives us something to do incase they double our TR setter. Drain punch combos well with bulk up to keep emboar around, Heat Crash give us a fire attack without recoil (and in most matchups where fire matters, it will be the same base power, this only really hurts our venusaur matchup (Also, did you know mold breaker means that Emboar Flareblitz OHKO's M-Venusaur?) Sucker punch gives us coverage into psychic and ghosts and a form of priority.

Mega Charizard X & Staraptor VGC Team Guide

Have played almost none of this season cause M-B was feeling quite stale. Thought about what I felt like had a good matchup into much of the field and landed on Charizard X. This was because of his unique type combination of fire and dragon and his decent physical bulk.

Offensively, Charizard can hit 5 types super effectively (Steel and Dragon being the most important here) and no 1 type resists both his STABS. Defensively, with a quad resist to grass and fire, sun teams are at a heavy disadvantage from the start. With fire mitigating the fairy weakness gained by dragon, we only have 3 remaining weaknesses in dragon, rock and ground. While rock coverage is everywhere, we are bulky enough to survive a rock slide or two naturally. Ground can be mitigated by delaying your mega evolution while dragon dancing, and while opposing dragons are an issue, a single dragon dance allows us to outspeed and OHKO the relevant dragons in the meta as long as they aren't scarfed.

To support ZardX we want someone who has access to fake out pressure so we can set up dragon dance more safely, and a way to pivot to out to facilitate the rest of our supporting cast. Clearly, the best choice for the job, we are bringing ~~Incineroar~~ Grimmsnarl. We are using grimmsnarl. Why not the best supporting pokemon ever made? Well, overlapping fire typing is not the most appreciated here, and while intimidate is nice, the dragon immunity, fairy STAB, and prankster make this a bit of a no brainer. Fake out for disruption, reflect to weaken those pesky rock and ground moves (mostly), spirit break for helping against opposing dragons, and parting shot for priority pivoting.

Now, ZardX is great, but is no powerhouse like ZardY, and we will need a second Mega. We have many options here, but frankly, none better than the BIRD.

Eelektross VGC Team Building Advice | Pokémon Champions

hi!! so i'm a noob to competitive, only been playing champions the past couple months with zero prior vgc experience. i've definitely learned a fair bit already since starting through both experience and watching videos, but i could totally use some advice on how i should build a team around eelektross - a mon i've really grown to love using lately, especially with its new mega.

here are the two teams i've been messing around with: first one is just a bunch of my fave mons in general (i know my basculegion should be male but i just love the fem design so much 😭), second is a water-based team using more conventional meta options.

i've had decent success with both, ESPECIALLY with my eel knowing both a ground type move and a good phys electric move. been able to take down charizard, raichu, and the occasional bellibolt pretty reliably. i always have him out first with toxapex, who can take a hit and protect when needed.

that being said - i've been stuck in ultra tier and today had a bad losing streak that got me down to great 💀 i think archaludon is one of my biggest threats, since not only can it basically blast through my water team, but it's extremely beefy and hard to grind down even with super effective moves. cannot STAND that stupid bridge. sinistcha is also a thorn in my side.

and my latest loss.....was with my first team (specifically escher, flurry, tropica, and caliburn, in that order) against an oranguru with trick room and instruct, mega blastoise that used protect first thing (so my supercell slam missed and gave me a lot of recoil), and torkoal. didn't even get to see what the fourth mon they had was lol.

what could i do better with my teams? how do i better strategize? do i really need to wipe the slate clean for the team of just my faves, or can i make them work? who, if anyone, should i switch out on either team? again, i'm a noob to vgc so i'm very much still learning. tysm for ur patience w me in advance!!! 🙂‍↕️💙

Steel Type Gym Leader Team Building | Pokémon Champions

Hey! I’m the new Steel Gym Leader and I need your help to upgrade my teams. Overall they're pretty cool, but if you see any flaws, feel free to drop your thoughts!

Team 1: Orthworm used to be great, but now feels a bit outdated. Fighting-types are giving me a really hard time here. You can either swap just 1 Pokémon to keep the exact same core skeleton, or swap 2-3 Pokémon to build a fresh synergy/tactic (just don't change everything!).

Team 2: This one is actually pretty solid as it is, but let me know if you’d make any minor tweaks.

Let me know what you think! 🦾

( Ofc im ready for everything now, just need your opinion)

Hard Trick Room Team Analysis | Pokémon VGC Guide

𝗛𝗔𝗥𝗗 𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗖𝗞 𝗥𝗢𝗢𝗠 — 𝗧𝗘𝗔𝗠 𝗔𝗡𝗔𝗟𝗬𝗦𝗜𝗦

This team originally came from a team I found through this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uk1IWKkbm0k

Since then I’ve changed a lot. Moves, spreads and how I use certain Pokémon have all evolved, but the idea behind the team has stayed pretty much the same.

Reliable Trick Room without sacrificing offense.

𝗙𝗔𝗥𝗜𝗚𝗜𝗥𝗔𝗙

Farigiraf is the safe Trick Room setter.

It’s bulky, reliable and Armor Tail is huge for this team. Trick Room controls Speed, but priority doesn’t care about Speed order. Farigiraf fixes that.

Once TR is up, it can Protect and keep Armor Tail active while something next to it does the damage.

The downside is that Farigiraf can be passive, which is something I’ve tried to balance with the rest of the team.

𝗛𝗔𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗘

Hatterene is the other side of double TR.

Farigiraf gives me safe TR. Hatterene gives me offensive TR.

Hatterene can set Trick Room without giving up offensive pressure. The opponent still has to respect the damage coming from that slot.

For me, Hatterene + Torkoal are a massive part of what makes hard Trick Room actually worth playing.

A good example of the style:

https://youtu.be/bqgUiZcJYQw?si=y_vPE_pBGTJ4CsDA

𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗞𝗢𝗔𝗟

Torkoal is the payoff.

Get it onto the field healthy under Trick Room and Eruption can take control of a game very quickly.

The team does a lot to create that opportunity.

Sometimes the game plan really is as simple as:

Get TR up → keep Torkoal healthy → Eruption.

𝗗𝗥𝗔𝗠𝗣𝗔

Drampa is probably the glue of the team.

It has huge Special Attack, great Speed for TR and some really useful resistances.

But the biggest reason I love it is Cloud Nine.

It creates some awesome switches against weather teams. Against rain, for example, I can Intimidate something like Swampert with Incineroar and bring Drampa in to shut down the benefits of rain.

It also means Torkoal can Eruption into rain without the usual Fire damage reduction while Cloud Nine is active.

Drampa doesn’t need to beat everything either. What it can’t kill, Hatterene or Torkoal often can.

Those three work incredibly well together.

𝗜𝗡𝗖𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗥𝗢𝗔

My Incineroar is intentionally unconventional.

I found that bulky Incineroar + bulky Farigiraf was simply too passive. I could reliably establish TR, but sometimes there wasn’t enough immediate damage behind it.

So Incin became much more offensive.

I still get Fake Out and Intimidate, but now the slot can actually threaten serious damage.

It keeps the reliable Farigiraf mode without turning the lead into two Pokémon that just sit there.

𝗠𝗔𝗪𝗜𝗟𝗘

Mawile is more of a specialist.

I don’t bring it nearly as often as the main HTR core. I like it most against slow, passive or screen-based teams.

If someone gives me a turn to set screens, I can sometimes use that opening to Swords Dance + Trick Room and suddenly Mawile becomes a huge problem.

The set is unconventional too.

I stopped relying on Play Rough because the misses weren’t worth it. Iron Head gives me reliability, Thunder Punch hits things Iron Head can’t, Sucker Punch gives priority and Swords Dance punishes passive turns.

𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗠𝗔𝗞𝗘𝗦 𝗜𝗧 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗞

The funny thing is that I don’t always Mega Evolve.

The Mega isn’t what makes the team work.

The strength is the HTR core and how everything supports it:

Farigiraf — safe TR and priority protection
Hatterene — offensive TR
Torkoal — huge TR payoff
Drampa — weather control and special pressure
Incineroar — Fake Out, Intimidate and physical damage
Mawile — situational physical win condition

The team has gone through plenty of changes, but the philosophy has never really changed:

Get Trick Room up reliably, don’t give away offensive pressure, and make every TR turn count.

Dragon Gym Leader Team Building Guide | Pokémon Champions

Hi, , I'm the dragon gym leader, but I'm ns how to structure these teams. I'm basically trying to build them effectively, but not having much luck. As u know, we're allowed two non-type, non-mega pokemon for our teams. For those of you not aware, there's talks of putting a restricted list in place. Currently the plan will be that everyone will be allowed one Mon from the list. I have suggested that gym leaders get two, but can only bring one to a battle. But this hasn't been set in stone yet. The first team is a team designed to be fast, while the second is a tr team. Thoughts on my teams?
