Optimize Your VGC Team: EV Spreads & Strategy Advice

This team has been doing very well for me, I just feel like I’m missing something with the EV spreads as I’m not very good at them and I want to get so much more value. Also feel free to let me know what things could be optimized in terms of move sets, and maybe using a different Pokémon for the same job.

Luxray VGC Team Feedback | Pokémon Champions Tournaments

https://pokepast.es/b1f9563e318be384

hi! i made this team omw to school this morning, and i found it to be nice, i really love luxray, and i wanted to use it and so i threw this team together, i have an online tournament coming up round the end of the month and just wanted to see what you guys thought about it and if anyone had any suggestions for changes!! all the ev spreads are pretty generic and if i had something specific in mind when making the spread i have said it in the description of each pokemon, i havent done many calcs either

Gardevior : this is the central mega (although dnite comes to a fair number of games too), expanding force for huge damage in psychic terrain and hypervoice for spread damage, i was worried about how garde would matchup into golisopod and gambit, and so i gave it mystical fire for some super effective damage into both, protect to just make sure i had a defensive option to either scout out scarf mons (specifically dengo) and just to improve positioning or stalling out effects

Indeedee : the obvious addition after garde, follow me support and the ability to overwrite terrains is really nice, i gave it trick room incase my opponents wanted to set trickroom or tailwind and id have an option for something else, and helping hand to boost the overall damage output coming from garde. the red card is moreso just a funny pick and also helps me disrupt my opponent by removing my opponents pokemon that are applying pressure into my mons.

Sneasler : i wanted a fast option that would work consistently against gambit (which seemed like a problem even though i had mystical fire on garde) i gave it some weird bulk because i assumed id be bringing indeedee to most games that i would bring sneasler, so sneasler would always outspeed every mon outside of tailwind and trickroom, and i thought that some extra bulk on sneasler really couldnt hurt, mega charizard y was seeming to be an annoying mon, so i added rock slide to deal with it and get some potential flinches in situations where sneasler is badly positioned / needs to be sacrificed, obviously no fakeout because of the psychic terrain from indeedee

Luxray : my first 3 mons all have a base defense stat of about 65 at MAX, so i thought that luxray's intimidate could support the team nicely here, pairing it with volt switch and looking at luxrays defensive stats made me think it could be nice as a bulky pivot, hence the investment, it still has a really respectable attack stat so i wanted to give it wild charge for some stab damage, and im kinda lost on the last 2 slots, do i run snarl / electroweb?? i gave it psychic fangs for screens and the synergy with the terrain but otherwise i really dunno, i find protect not being as valuable on luxray in my opinion, since im really just either pivoting out and i have the sitrus berry,

Dragonite : dragonite helps with matchups that garde couldnt handle, like golisopod and mega zard y, and also is just bulky and trades really well into other dragon types that are popular (specifically mence, and chomp) i gave it dragon pulse for consistent stab damage and heatwave incase im playing against zard teams and golisopod,

Kingambit : gambit rounds out the team in my opinion, a slow mon that can work inside trickroom incase i find a need to set it up, a dark type for opposing psyspam, and a steel type that rounds out my fantasy core, i was going to run the standard kowtow sucker iron head protect, but sucker wasnt gonna work in psychic terrain so i dropped it for swords dance which lets it set up comfortably with indeedee

i want to go positive during the tournament (although this is my first one) and i wanna have some fun too!!, i might run this team on ladder too so theres that

any feedback is appreciated!! teambuilding adjustments, a different ev spread, identifying difficult matchups for me, really anything works!!

Mega Barbaracle VGC Strategy Guide | Pokémon Champions

Mega Barbaracle. A mega that when you look at him on paper, he's like "Oh he looks kinda cool" then you look at his typing into the meta and go "Oh god." His design doesn't do any heavylifting either. But... with the rise of Rain Yard, Rain without Basculegon, and less Staraptor, Barbaracle might be able to slip through the cracks and steal games. Teamsheet for reference: https://pokepast.es/662e6a206bee7b25

First off we got the big Barb himself, Barabaracle. Barbaracle is nice because you don't actually NEED to mega evolve him every game, unlike some other megas I've used in the recent past. Barbaracle is a setup sweeper with Rock slide and Close combat for stab, protect for protect, and Shell smash to boost speed and attack (and ig special attack but guh.) He's Adamant 4 speed to outspeed even max max Z megas after a Shell smash (although not faster than many scarfed mon, so be wary,) with a lot in defenses so even after the defense drops, it can still stay relativly bulky, especially in sand. A nice think you can do is dely your mega while you setup so you resist some moves better, like Steel, Fairy, Psychic, and Water. Once he gets going, he punches big holes in opposing teams or outright finishes them off himself.

Choice. Scarf. Metagross. Now I know what you're thinking."Gorey! Whatever you're on, let me have some." But hear me out. Metagross is here to remove opposing terrain, (or my own if it pains me) with steelroller since big Barb up there is weak to both Rillaboom and Psyspam. With Jolly max speed, it outspeeds the 130 point speed mark, BY 1 POINT. That way, it can throw off Stomping tantrums into Raichus, Psyfangs whilst ignoring Intimidate into Gengars, all while still being decently bulky, and has great synergy with Barbaracle. The rest of the st is fairly standard, with Iron head and Psy fangs.

Pokémon VGC Team Building: Glitchless Strategy Guide

Looking for improvements. To explain my thoughts behind this team boils down to a few things. (Yes I am limited on my pokemon as I'm in the middle of playing the games in order). Sandstorm battery with Ttar and earthworm, chip/stall with toxapex and increase spdef, halicha and Pikachu for pivots with immunities and regeneration plays with both earthworm and toxapex. Basculegion and Pikachu for DMG/ speeding up.

Competitive Sun & Rain VGC Team Guide | Pokémon Champions

Hey guys I’m creating a fun choice scarf Archaludon team with Charizard Y, Pelipper, Mega Golisopod as a second mega, Rillaboom and Incineroar.

Every calculation has been done with full investment and nature for the opposing Pokemon even though some of them are unlikely to be running full bulk and etc.

I do not play with Tailwind or Trick Room at all in any of my teams and don’t play with screens unless I use Aurora Veil since it’s a 1 turn move rather than wasting 2 turns on screens

Starting off with Charizard Y, I chose weather ball over heat wave because in case of H. Arcanine matchup rain weather ball from Zard just OHKO full bulk investment HA, and the speed investment has been made for that matchup specifically to outspeed full speed and nature by 1, especially because head smash from HA just OHKO my Zard. I use Hurricane especially because in rain I OHKO full bulk + psychic seed Sneasler. Helping Hand to support Solar Beam scarf Archaludon and then Protect.

Archaludon, speed investment with Scarf outspeeds anything below 150 base speed full investment and obviously some higher speed scarf Pokemon like a base Garchomp unfortunately I won’t be able to outspeed but I can control the damage taken with grassy terrain from EQ and other ground moves. Solar Beam with grassy terrain or helping hand OHKOs Mega Swampert and Electro Shot with the +1 OHKOs Basculegion both with full bulk investment, also my speed investment on Archaludon outspeeds scarfed Basculegion without Swift Swim. Flash cannon pretty straightforward it only 2HKOs fairy types since they are all so SpD bulky naturally so there’s nothing I can do about that even with Helping Hand. I’m unsure between Dragon Pulse and Draco Meteor, but I’m leaning more towards Pulse since being locked with scarf I wouldn’t want to receive consecutive -2 SpAs😅😅.

Mega-Gengar VGC Team Building Help | Pokémon Champions

The current version paste: https://pokepast.es/375f53b545d86e4d
I've post it on Reddit before but I need more help
https://www.reddit.com/r/VGC/s/DBOD51nWYO
The post explain most things and I've only changed Gengar EV
25+ Atk Rillaboom High Horsepower vs. 2 HP / 14 Def Gengar-Mega: 118-140 (86.1 - 102.1%) -- 12.5% chance to OHKO

I also found that H-arc isn't a safe Kingambit counter, sometimes forces me to bring Kommo-O in a unsafe matchup
A slightest mistake even RNG would make this team collapse so please help me find better version with margin of error.

Pokémon VGC Team Building: EV Advice & OTS Tournament Tips

https://pokepast.es/d6c3f65310fe7cca
First self made (serious) team for my first OTS tournament

Haven't done any of the EVs as I have little experience with the mons. Excadrill will probably be max speed max ATK, but the others I imagine wanting some bulk. Are there any benchmarks I could and should EV for? Any suggestions on set changes are also welcome 🙂
