Members analyze historical comparisons, international law, and the criteria for genocide versus war. This thread highlights the diverse perspectives within the server as users debate whether current events meet the specific legal threshold of genocide.
There is no actual evidence that proves that Israel is committing genocide is Gaza or has committed genocide in Gaza, especially when compared with ICJ rulings on genocide and compared to what actual genocides looks like. And the conflict is less bloody than so many wars that have been fought in our history.
Before you respond, Check out the "Nigerian - Biafran Civil War" and the "Sudan Civil War". In some of this conflicts, starvation was literally war policy.
Nice try mossad
Black mossad gotta be crazy work 😭💔🥀
One situation being worse than the other doesn't mean the other situation ain't bad. You gotta be empty in the head to say Israel ain't committing genocide.
There’s an official definition for genocide with specific criteria to be met and the conflict in Gaza does not meet that definition so factually the statement is correct that there’s no evidence that Israel is committing a genocide. The word “genocide” doesn’t just mean whatever you think it should mean and is not a word that should be thrown around willy nilly
The definition is murdering a certain group or race and that's what they're doing to Palestinians.
That’s not the definition of genocide lol
If just killing a certain group or race means genocide then practically every war or conflict in human history is a genocide but we don’t define it that way
Genocide requires dolus specialis aka the specific intent to destroy in whole or in part some ethnic, racial or religious group
Then is it considered a war ? They're killing civilians not just military
Yes it’s considered a war. Civilian casualties are obviously a tragedy but high civilian casualties on their own don’t prove genocide
Like the US & UK bombed tf outta Dresden, Germany killing tens of thousands of german civilians in just a couple days but nobody calls that a “genocide”
And its not just killing people. Isreal also caused widespread displacement, destruction of infrastructures like hospitals, agricultural fields, and housing and also caused severe restrictions on food, water, and medical aid in Palestine. That's more than a war. A war is more between military than killing civilian and torturing them
Yeah these are also things that happen in war in general. It still doesn’t meet the definition of genocide which I provided for you earlier
That’s why I said if this is how you define genocide then you have to also believe that practically every war in human history was a genocide at well… at that point the word loses its meaning
Isn't their intent to get rid of just Palestinians ? They sure ain't bombing any other places.
No that’s not their intent. The official military objective is to eliminate Hamas
The intent is not to eliminate the Arab race from the region. Literally 20% of Israel’s population is Arab
But if you believe it is their intent then the burden of proof is on you to prove that their real objective is just to kill Palestinians
Intent has not been proven that is incorrect
Intent is one of the 5 requirements to classify as genocide
If you put it that way it makes sense
No actual proof he said 😭
We literally have videos of israel bombing hospitals 😭 😭
Hamas is also known to use civilian infrastructure like hospitals for military operations. Literally everyone knows this. Obviously they will get bombed during a war if they’re gonna shoot missiles out of it lmao
Idk if you are dumb or you are just talking bc my guy laughing about hospitals being bombed while acting like you possess groundbreaking military intellect is a special level of embarrassing
claiming that using civilian infrastructure gives any armed force a blank check to obliterate hospitals and murder hundreds of patients medical staff and refugees completely ignores the basic laws of armed conflict under international humanitarian law strict proportionality precautions and concrete verification are absolute legal requirements not optional suggestions that can be dismissed with a lazy lmao
using crude online bravado to justify mass civilian deaths does not make you sound realistic or smart it just shows you lack any basic understanding of international law human rights or military ethics
Sure obviously there’s more things to be considered but let’s not act like Hamas isn’t intentionally conducting military operations inside and underneath hospitals in hopes Israel doesn’t attack.
Obviously I believe any innocent civilian casualty is a tragedy in any conflict I am just saying that the blame should be placed on Hamas rather than Israel. Israel is also known to give warnings and drop leaflets so people can leave the area ahead of a planned strike
You are quick to admonish Israel for striking a hospital but will never mention Hamas operating in that same hospital. Also striking hospitals that serve as de facto military headquarters for your opponent (like Al-Shifa) still doesn’t qualify the conflict as a genocide. You still haven’t proven genocide and you can’t
It's been 3 years and yet this is still a damn argument, only reason it's still so fueled is because of extreme political motives and it's geographic location otherwise most of y'all wouldn't really care
Lol claiming that targeting medical centers automatically disproves systemic war crimes reveals a profound lack of understanding regarding legal standards
under international law specific intent to destroy a population in whole or in part is established through documented patterns of behavior such as destroying water supplies blocking food distribution enforcing siege conditions and systematically wiping out healthcare capacity across an entire region as documented extensively by human rights organizations and legal bodies
relying on claims about a single medical facility to dismiss a massive body of documented evidence presented in international courts is simply avoiding the actual arguments and legal facts 😂
Palestine was always important even wayyyyy before the war
In the Arab world maybe, most people in the west probably never heard of it until only a few years ago and just hopped onto caring like it's a 'trend'
Broooo
I keep getting timed out
Anyway
claiming the western world only recently discovered this region as a modern trend ignores more than a century of documented world history
Palestine has been at the absolute center of western foreign policy and international diplomacy since at least the early 20th century long before social media existed key historical events like the 1917 Balfour Declaration the British Mandate and the 1947 UN Partition Plan prove that western powers have been heavily involved for over a hundred years
confusing your own recent personal awareness on social media with actual global history does not change the fact that western governments military strategy and international law have revolved around this exact geography for generations
So yes it was always important even for the west
I was talking about the common civilian based on what I've seen, not the leaders who've always stuck their noses where they didn't belong
FUCKKK
Fz don't fuck with me
I DIDN'T EVEN SAY ANYTHING
😔
Bro what did u do💀
israel is historically more important gng
I got timed out again
Lol that happened to me twice I think yesterday
No it wasn't not even close
Bro the bot us tweaking
the kingdom of israel
Israel is not even a kingdom that shows how "knowledgeable you are"
