Summary
Optimum Realism addresses technical limitations regarding 512x resource pack loading on Apple Silicon M3 hardware. The announcement explains that current Minecraft texture atlas constraints limit resolution, but a new custom Vulkan engine is in development to support higher resolution textures. This update is crucial for community members seeking improved visual fidelity and performance on Mac systems.
I am having trouble loading the 512x pack on my mac. I can load the 256x one just fine, but the 512x one almost completely loads but then says "Resource reload failed." I am running MacOS Tahoe 26.6 Beta and have Silicon M3 and Metal GPU. I have logs if needed. It said stuff like "Caused by: net.minecraft.client.renderer.texture.StitcherException: Unable to fit: minecraft:block/weathered_copper_door_bottom - size: 512x512 - Maybe try a lower resolution resourcepack?" which (I think) means it had trouble creating the texture atlas. Thank you.
Why did it take that long for a discord app to "type" a response? XD

How do I make the "box" size bigger?
So the most you can get on a MBP is 128x. Even if you don't install connected textures the engine actually still tries to do an atlas map/load of all the textures and it will fail on anything higher.
I'm working on a vulkan engine right now that out of the box can load 256x, or 64x with all the 512 maps (just not textures).
I will attempting this month to have it finished up and working with 512x (slooooooooooooooow load).
As of this moment I've had to override the default MC/Sodium resolution of textures and handle all the rendering myself, so I'm working out a few bugs.
